Morgott, the Omen King, also known as Margit, the Fell Omen is a major antagonist in the 2022 video game, Elden Ring. He is an Omen that occupies the Leyndell royal capital as its ruler and watches over the Erdtree, acting as its guardian. He also happens to be the son of Marika and Godfrey, as well as the twin brother of Mohg.

Under the will of the Golden Order, he ensures that no one is to become Elden Lord and does whatever he can to prevent those from doing so, including the Tarnished.

He was voiced by Anthony Howell.

Personality[]

Unlike his other fellow demigods, Morgott had no interest in obtaining power for selfish reasons, let alone desire to become Elden Lord. Instead, Morgott pledges his loyalty to the Golden Order and views his siblings as traitors for going against it in favor of their own ambitions.

As an Omen, however, he was detested by many and his honorable acts were not recognized, not even by the Golden Order. For this reason, he remained very bitter of his Omen nature, but even then, he chose to remain loyal and continue protecting Leyndell, believing loyalty to be a reward in its own right. When his mother disappeared from the world, Morgott was more focused on ensuring Leyndell wouldn't fall captive in the hands of his selfish siblings than to pursue his own goals.

In contrast to his twin brother, Mohg, Morgott holds no malicious intent of any sort and is only carrying out his task because the Golden Order wills it. Due to this, he relentlessly goes out of his way to ensure those like the Tarnished are not to become Elden Lord, regardless of who they are or what their intentions are. Despite his loyalty, however, Morgott has questioned the intent of the Golden Order as he is unsure why it refuses Tarnished to become Elden Lord, especially later seeing that the refusal of a new Elden Lord could potentially lead to cataursophic problems for not just his kingdom, but the world itself. Even so, he refuses to go against their calling because of how devoted he has become to his role as the Erdtree's guardian.

Trivia[]

The Remembrance of the Omen King can be consumed for 30,000 Runes or handed to Enia to obtain either Morgott's Cursed Sword or the Regal Omen Bairn.
Morgott is the only demigod that is required to be beaten, in order for the player to progress through the story.
