Should you pull for Yun Jin in Genshin Impact? Is Yun Jin Worth it? (2024)

Yun Jin may be a free 4-Star Character in Genshin Impact 2.4, but is it actually a good idea to pull for her to get more constellations?

Genshin Impact 2.4 has finally arrived for all servers of Genshin Impact which means Yun Jin is now obtainable from both of the two new banners. She is part of the 4-star rate-up of “The Transcendent One Returns”, which also features Shenhe, and “Invitation to Mundane Life”, which features a rerun of Xiao. If you’re planning to pull just for her, keep in mind that you may also have a chance to obtain the 5-star character of the banner, which will affect your pity. This article will be a guide to help you decide if pulling for Yun Jin is worth it, or rather worth skipping.

Reasons Why You Should Pull For Yun Jin

Yun Jin is a 4-star Geo polearm character, whose main role is to provide additional damage to her allies with her Elemental Burst. Her Elemental Skill, Opening Flourish, only provides a short-duration shield for herself, but it’s incredibly useful when you want to poise (a.k.a. facetank) through hard-hitting enemy attacks.

Her Elemental Burst works like a counter for her attacking allies, having 30 counts of additional damage when the active player deals Normal Attacks. This means that she can support those who deal damage mostly via Normal Attacks, like Yoimiya, Chongyun, Ningguang, Yanfei, and Noelle. If you are using these characters a lot, then she is a great addition to their teams.

Yun Jin is also a good candidate for a second Geo character with Zhongli, especially on teams that want to run Geo resonance. Unlike Gorou who only really works for pure Geo teams, she can provide a bit of extra damage as well as provide Geo Resonance for non-Geo teams.

To summarize, here is a list of reasons why pulling for Yun Jin is a great idea:

  1. You like Yun Jin’s design and/or gameplay.
  2. You want a good support for Normal Attack-based characters.
  3. You don’t have Albedo, and want a good second Geo character with Zhongli, for Geo Resonance.
  4. You want to fill a pure Geo team consisting of only 4-star characters (with Noelle, Ningguang, Gorou).
  5. You are pulling for Shenhe and/or Xiao, anyway.

Reasons Why You Should Skip This Character

Despite the things mentioned above, Yun Jin has her own set of problems and caveats. She is not a dedicated shielder, which many players are disappointed about. Dedicated Geo healers are surprisingly rare, which only consists of Zhongli and Noelle at the moment. She also doesn’t generate a lot of energy, which makes her need a good amount of Energy Recharge for her Burst uptime. Finally, Yun Jin is not a good fit for any of the top meta teams, which is something to take note of, especially if you like going with the meta.

To summarize, here are the reasons why you should skip pulling for Yun Jin:

  1. You do not like Yun Jin’s design and/or playstyle.
  2. You are near pity and not planning to pull for Shenhe and/or Xiao.
  3. You do not like the Normal Attack playstyle.
  4. You are underwhelmed by Yun Jin’s awkward skill set.

Either way, Yun Jin will surely find her way on many players' rosters. Shenhe and Xiao are two popular characters, after all. Whether players actually want to or not, if they're pulling for either 5-Star Characters' banners, they're bound to get a Yun Jin or two.
