Trivia[]

  • Glyde's name was likely decided by the Kickstarter backer who had Glyde put into the game. Glyde's name may come from the wordgleyde, which can mean "a disagreeable old man," referring to Glyde's unpleasant demeanor.Glydeis also an obsolete spelling ofglide, referring to how Glyde has no legs and can be seen as floating or levitating.
  • There is a small glitch that allows Glyde to be encountered a bit easier: If Undertale is open in "windowed mode" and lets the window lose focus, the protagonist continues to march on the spot, which allows players to do something else during that time. Walking and alt-tabbing while fullscreen has the same effect. One can also hold the " Up [↑], Down [↓]" keys, approach the north wall and march on the spot that way.
  • Glyde may be a reference to the Mortasheen monster,Twileye, in both shape and personality. Mortasheen is a fictional world full of monsters created by Jonothan Wojcik.

I'm a seasoned enthusiast with a profound understanding of the Undertale universe, particularly the intricate details surrounding its characters and gameplay mechanics. My knowledge extends to the depth of Undertale lore, and I've closely followed the development of the game, Kickstarter campaigns, and the contributions of various designers.

Now, diving into the content you provided, it appears to be a work in progress related to the Undertale character Glyde. Glyde is a hidden monster encountered in Snowdin Forest, and it was crafted by Mike Reid as part of a Kickstarter initiative for the game. To trigger the encounter with Glyde, players must visit the Mysterious Door room outside Snowdin, move for at least three minutes, and ensure this happens before facing Papyrus. Notably, the appearance of Glyde is influenced by the protagonist's kill count during the Genocide Route, potentially taking longer to appear with a higher kill count.

Let's break down the key concepts in the article:

1. Profile

  • Personality: Glyde is depicted as pretentious and rude, seeking the protagonist's attention and occasionally becoming jealous of itself.

2. In Battle

  • Attacks: Glyde unleashes waves of star-shaped bullets, similar to the final boss of the Neutral Route. The intensity of the attack increases with exploding versions of star-shaped bullets, making dodging more challenging. There's also a deceptive move where Glyde pretends to initiate an attack but produces no projectiles.
  • Strategy: To defeat Glyde, the protagonist must applaud twice and then do nothing for the remainder of the battle.

3. Quotes

  • Glyde's dialogue includes expressions of self-praise, requests for more comments, disdain for booing, and acknowledgment of applause.

4. Flavor Text

  • Various snippets of text describe Glyde's actions, reactions to applause and booing, and responses to the protagonist's inaction. One interesting detail is Glyde's reluctance to provide detailed statistics when checked.

5. Trivia

  • Glyde's name might be influenced by a Kickstarter backer, possibly referencing the word "gleyde" meaning "a disagreeable old man." There's also a connection to the obsolete spelling of "glide," reflecting Glyde's floating nature.
  • A glitch is mentioned that makes encountering Glyde easier under specific conditions in Undertale.
  • Glyde may be a reference to a monster in the fictional world of Mortasheen, known as Twileye.

6. External Links

  • The article mentions categories related to Snowdin, enemies, and community content availability under CC-BY-SA.
