Copycat Trader Joe's Turkey Gobbler Wrap (1)Trader Joe’s is possibly my favorite grocery store. If you read around here often, you may know this! I’ll stop at TJ’s on every opportunity, so it’s truly a good thing I don’t live across the street anymore.

I’ve written about what you can air fry from Trader Joe’s. I’ve written about the best products you can meal prep from Trader Joe’s. But now, it’s time to write about what is possibly my favorite Trader Joe’s holiday exclusive: the Turkey Gobbler Wrap.

What is the turkey gobbler wrap?

The turkey gobbler wrap is a delicious ready-to-eat lunch option available at Trader Joe’s during the holiday season. It’s been on the shelves every year for as long as I can remember, and it’s probably my favorite wrap they sell.

Let’s be real, some ready-to-eat lunch options are not the best. Even some of Trader Joe’s.

But there’s just something about this turkey gobbler wrap. Maybe the exclusivity. Maybe the Fall ingredients. I don’t really know for sure, but I’m here for it (here at home and ready to recreate, that is!!).

What’s in a turkey gobbler wrap?

It’s full of turkey, stuffing, cranberries, and the special ingredient, cream cheese. It’s delightful, filling, full of Fall flavors, and unfortunately, only available for a quarter of the year *sad face*

The good news is most of these ingredients can sometimes appear in your home as leftovers, so you can make the turkey gobbler wrap at home!

How do you make the turkey gobbler wrap at home?

Super easy – it can be done. All you need are the ingredients listed above and some soft tortillas/wraps. I use plain white flour wraps like the Trader Joe’s version, but feel free to use your favorite kind of wrap.

If the wraps you like are prone to tearing, let them warm to room temperature before making your turkey gobbler wraps.

Spreading cold cream cheese on a wrap can make it rip, so be careful! Use room temp or whipped cream cheese for best results.

Get that cream cheese on there, then head over to the cranberries. I like to use whole berry cranberry sauce, but any leftover cranberry sauce will do.

After that, top with half a cup each of diced cooked turkey and your leftover holiday stuffing. Wrap it up like a chimichanga or a burrito, and you’re set!

If enjoying now, just go ahead and do that! Heat it up or eat it cold. Take a bite and see how you like it.

If you’re planning to enjoy this meal later, here’s what I do:

  • wrap it up tightly in aluminum foil
  • store in the refrigerator for max 4 days (this mostly depends on the turkey – if your turkey was already 4 days old, the wrap should be eaten immediately)
  • to reheat, remove foil and microwave in 30 second intervals, flipping between intervals – should take 60-90 seconds OR heat in a small toaster oven on ‘Warm’ for 4-5 minutes.
  • enjoy cold! I like them best this way

Should you add mashed potatoes to the turkey gobbler wrap?

One of the essential functions of my craft is testing various food combinations. I do the hard work, so you don’t have to.

So yeah, I experimented with adding mashed potatoes to my turkey gobbler wraps. Because mashed potatoes are delicious in every way, so how could it be bad? Good question. Glad you asked.

Well, it wasn’t bad. But it wasn’t good. I now understand why the original Trader Joe’s turkey gobbler wrap does not have mashed potatoes. I do not recommend them either. Here’s why:

  • The mashed potatoes have to be heated up. This eliminates the eating it cold option.
  • The mashed potatoes and tortilla just don’t go together. If for some reason your bite includes only those ingredients, it’s not going to be a very good bite. Again, not bad, but we want this all to be good.
  • Bites of only cranberries and only mashed potatoes are also not that good.
  • More mashed potatoes equals less room for turkey and stuffing. Idk. By the last bite, you just kind of don’t want them in there.

How long can you store the turkey gobbler wrap?

To save for later, wrap in foil and store in the fridge for 3-4 days (ensure your leftover turkey is consumed within 4-5 days of being cooked).

I have not tried freezing these, but I do think they would freeze well. If you give this a try, let me know how they do in the comments below.

How do you reheat the turkey gobbler wrap?

Two options for ya: 1) Remove foil and microwave in 30 second intervals, flipping between intervals – should take 60-90 seconds OR 2) heat in a small toaster oven on ‘Warm’ for 4-5 minutes.

I also really enjoy these cold but dipped into warm turkey gravy. Everyone has a different preference!

This Turkey Gobbler Wrap is a copycat of the Trader Joe’s version, complete with stuffing, cream cheese, and cranberries! Use up leftover holiday turkey to create these delicious and easy make-ahead lunches!

Scale:

Ingredients

  • 1 soft burrito size tortilla (pick a kind that won’t rip!)
  • 12 tablespoons cream cheese (whipped is easier to spread!)
  • 23 tablespoons leftover cranberry sauce
  • 1/2 cup leftover stuffing (any kind works but smaller bread chunks are better)
  • about 3 ounces or 1/2 cup leftover cooked turkey, diced
  • leftover gravy for dipping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Stuff it: Using a butter knife, spread cream cheese on the tortilla (room temperature or whipped cream cheese will help you not rip your tortilla while spreading). Follow the cream cheese with 2-3 tablespoons cranberry sauce, spreading it over the cream cheese. Add about 1/2 cup stuffing followed by a 1/2 cup diced cooked turkey meat over the cream cheese and cranberries.
  2. Wrap it: Fold the wrap as you would a burrito – fold the sides in, pull the bottom of the tortilla up and over with your thumbs, then tuck the bottom and the sides of the tortilla into the top of the wrap (see my air fryer chimichanga recipe for step-by-step photos and a video of how to wrap it – I do it the same way!). This recipe technically makes one wrap, but keep going! Make as many as you want to use up your leftovers.
  3. Eat it: Enjoy immediately with leftover gravy for dipping, or wrap in foil and store in the fridge for 3-4 days (ensure your leftover turkey is consumed within 4-5 days of being cooked). I like to eat these cold or let them set in the toaster oven on ‘Warm’ for 4-5 minutes and then enjoy.

Thank you!!! This is my favorite TJ wrap and we won’t be able to shop there until December. I was so sad about not getting being able to purchase this wrap this year. It tastes just as good as TJ!
