What was God's promise in the Old Testament?
The scriptures promised a Messiah who would reign on David's throne forever and that he would come as a child, as a son. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Eternal life is the phrase used in scripture to define the quality of life that our Eternal Father lives. The Lord declared, âThis is my work and my gloryâto bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of manâ (Moses 1:39). Immortality is to live forever as a resurrected being.
1 John 2:25 states, âAnd this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.â Eternal life is a promise God has made to us as Christians. Like all His other promises, it's something that we can count on, rely upon, and trust in.
Jesus says, âWhoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life!â (John 5:24).

When Moses and his people reached Mount Sinai on the way to the Promised Land, God spoke to Moses.
