High Speed Train in India
India has been progressively building its high-speed train capabilities, with various projects at different stages of planning and construction. As of my last update in April 2023, the most notable project is the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor, which is intended to operate at speeds of up to 320 km/h, using Japanese Shinkansen technology. Other high-speed rail projects, often referred to as semi-high speed, aim to upgrade existing lines to allow trains to operate at speeds of 160-200 km/h. The Indian government, under the banner of the Ministry of Railways and its dedicated wing for high-speed rail, the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), is overseeing these developments.
