Is Molten Pickaxe worth it? ›

The Molten Pickaxe is a pre-Hardmode pickaxe. It is the most powerful pre-Hardmode pickaxe, being able to break nearly every block in one hit. It is capable of mining Cobalt Ore and Palladium Ore, which makes it an essential tool for early Hardmode.

The Deathbringer Pickaxe is faster than the higher-tier Molten Pickaxe at mining blocks requiring one or three hits (see the table above) while it is slower at mining stronger blocks requiring two hits.

Hellstone is an ore that can be found in The Underworld. Mining it requires at least a Nightmare/Deathbringer Pickaxe, and it cannot be mined with explosives in pre-Hardmode. Hellstone in the Underworld emits a faint glow and releases a half-tile of lava when mined.

The Reaver Shark is the best pre-Hardmode pickaxe for mining almost any material that it can mine, except for Stone/Hard tiles, which the Molten Pickaxe is still slightly faster for.

While the Molten Pickaxe power allows it to mine stronger blocks in fewer hits, its slower tool speed means that the Nightmare Pickaxe remains faster for mining blocks that can be easily destroyed in one hit being almost twice as fast.

Cobalt Armor is a tier above Molten Armor, but a tier below Mythril Armor, making it the weakest Hardmode Armor excluding Pearlwood Armor.

However, Tungsten is marginally better than an Iron Pickaxe, which would be 39 ticks. When digging dirt-like blocks, it is faster to use the Tungsten Pickaxe because it only needs one hit (19 ticks) instead of two hits.

The Reaver Shark is a pickaxe available through fishing in the Ocean.

Is Molten armor the best? ›

It has the highest defense of any pre-Hardmode armor set, but can also be one of the most difficult to obtain. A full set of Molten armor provides the following benefits: +25 defense. +10% / +17% increased melee damage.

Melee players unlock Molten armor and Summoners unlock Obsidian armor, both of which are powerful class sets. (17% dmg, 7% crit, 7% melee speed, 20% true melee damage 25 def) Gives higher defense and higher offensive bonuses than Crimson, but overall worse survivability due to lacking regeneration.

The strongest would be a diamond pickaxe with the enchantments : Unbreaking III - Increases item durability Levels I II & III are available. Mending - Repair items with experience - you get experience drops from mining things like coal, redstone, emeralds and diamonds.

Players must gather 135x Hellstone and 45x Obsidian to craft 45x Hellstone Bar for the Molten Armor set.

It is crafted solely using Hellstone Bars. This tool has a chance of inflicting the On Fire! debuff. Its hammer and axe powers are the highest of all pre-Hardmode tools.
