So, the correct answer is 'Bacterial cell'Mitosis is an equational division. It occurs in the somatic cells. It creates two identical daughter cells from one mother cell. Cell must have nucleus to undergo mitosis. A fertilized egg undergoes number of mitotic division to form zygote. In plants, mitosis occurs in the meristematic cells, that is root apex, shoot apex, vascular cambium (increases diameter of roots and stems), cork cambium (produces new bark cells). Vascular cambium and cork cambium are examples of lateral meristem. Mitosis does not occur in bacterial cell as bacterial cell does not have a nucleus.

If an interphase cell is treated with cyanide the cell does not divide by mitosis. However if cyanide is added right after mitosis has started the same cell completes mitosis. Which of the following explains this observation?
a) metabolic activity ceases during mitosis
b) cell division does not require metabolic activitactivity
c) energy required for mitosis is produced and stored in the cell during interphase
d) mitotic cells make factors that make them resistant to cyanide
