Once cut, these blooms prefer a cool environment, as it enhances their life span and keeps the blooms looking fresh for longer. To ensure your lilies have the best chance of survival, keep them out of direct sunlight and place in an area that remains moderately cool.

Most times your florist will remove the pollen from the lilies, but sometimes your lilies will arrive with a closed bud and it will be up to you to remove these stamens of pollen once the lily has popped open.

You can promote blooming in pansies, African violets, peace lily, azaleas, petunias, roses, and impatiens by adding 1 tablespoon of Epsom salt in a gallon of water and using it to spray directly onto the foliage once every 15-20 days. You can also water the plants with this solution once in 3-5 weeks.

Once you have collected all the pollen, seal your airtight container and keep it in a cool, dark, dry place. You can keep it in the fridge or freezer for very long-term storage. The colder, the better. When frozen and sealed, pollen can keep for 12 months or longer.
