After Finny's death, we saw her try to commit suicide. What else were we going to see? Something along the lines " Although Finny's death impacted us all, we're okay now" the end? No, that's be a terrible ending, it wasn't ever always about Autumn, it was about her relationship with Finny.

While Finny and Sylvie argue over their relationship in his car, he loses control in the rain and Sylvie is thrown from the car. When Finny gets out to check on her, he steps into a pool of water that has been electrified by a fallen power line. He dies instantly.

The antagonist in this story is named Sylvie Whitehouse, who plays a big role in Autumn and Finny's relationship. Sylvie creates conflict between Autumn and Finny because she is Finny's girlfriend during most of the book and restricts Finny's ability to see Autumn due to her jealousy.

For Autumn, these tiaras symbolize her independence; freshman year is the first in which her mother has promised to allow her to dress the way she wants. For her friends, the tiaras become a symbol of rebellion because Autumn continues to wear them despite the laughter and odd looks from her classmates.

Went into this book with very high expectations but was disappointed. I understand the storyline however Autumn is an unbearable character. She is whiny and ungrateful.

It got tears in my eyes, I almost stopped reading but had to because I felt that somehow, just somehow, Finny was going to wake up and enjoy the relationship with Autumn. It broke my heart even more when I realized that she was going to birth a child without its loving father. The novel is worth the read.
