Elemental Mastery is the only stat on the character details page to get its own paragraph without having to press for more info. It doesn't affect the damage of an Elemental attack of any sort, but instead governs the damage caused by Elemental Reactions (and Geo shields).
The damage increase Elemental Mastery adds to Elemental Reactions are essentially categorized, with certain reactions being boosted differently to another. For example: At 105 Elemental Mastery, Vaporize and Melt damage is increased by 19.4%, while Overloaded, Superconduct, Electro-Charged, Shattered, and Swirl damage is increased by 46.5%.
Geo, on the other hand, only has the power of shields made through it increased in this way, gaining 31% increased damage absorbtion at 105 Elemental Mastery.
How to Raise Elemental Mastery
Characters have 0 base Elemental Mastery. This doesn't naturally increase as they level up, either. To raise Elemental Mastery, you need to look for it in your Weapons and Artifacts. Artifacts unlock additional stat bonuses at random every 4 levels, so with enough luck, you’ll gain Elemental Mastery by leveling up your character’s chosen Artifacts.
When building a character with Elemental Mastery as a focus, Artifact set bonuses can also increase Elemental Mastery both by default and for a set period of time when fulfilling certain conditions. How to See Elemental Mastery
When figuring out how to spec your character, keeping a close eye on your Elemental Mastery bonus is key. Each character has their current Elemental Mastery total listed alongside their main stats on the right side of their Attributes window, calculated by their Weapon, Artifacts, and any Artifact Set Bonuses active at the time.
You can dive a little deeper into the numbers by tapping into the Artifacts tab. Here, you'll see the exact amount of Elemental Mastery your equipment is supplying before Weapon and Artifact Set Bonuses are applied.
To see how your current total Elemental Mastery is affecting your abilities, click the Details button on your chosen character's Attributes screen. You should see the stat total and a breakdown of exactly how much its modifying each reaction's damage or shield numbers.
