As with Persona titles before it, Persona 5 Royal has a special ending you can unlock that’s different from the original game’s. By growing close to the characters specifically added to Royal (along with one other) you can unlock the true expanded ending.
In order to get the true ending in Persona 5 Royal you need to do the following:
- Reach Confidant rank 9 with Takuto Maruki (Councillor) by Nov. 18
- Reach Confidant rank 8 with Goro Akechi (Justice) by Nov. 24
- Reach Confidant rank 5 with Kasumi Yoshizawa (Faith) by Dec. 18
In addition to this, you’ll need to turn down all of the antagonist’s offers that occur January and February. The antagonist will ask if you want to join their side, and all you have to do is turn them down.
That being said, you do have plenty of time to raise all of these social links. Akechi does require rank three charm and rank four knowledge to advance in his, so make sure you’re also raising your stats as you go.
If you do not meet these Confidant requirements, you’ll just get the regular ending of Persona 5, which is no fun. (You’re playing the special re-released version after all, so you might as well get that good ending.)
