Genshin Impact guide: How to make more Wishes (2024)

In Genshin Impact, the best way to get new weapons and characters is via the Wish system. If you’re familiar with gachapon games, you should have a solid grip on what a Wish is. If you’re new, think of them as a loot box: most of the time it’s filled with garbage, and if you want something good, you’ll need a lot of Wishes.

Wishing is important for your progression. Thankfully, there are a few in-game ways to get more Wishes. Here are the different Wish currencies and how to farm them.

Primogems

Primogems are going to be your best source of Wishes in Genshin Impact — at least past your first few Wishes, which the game basically gives you for free.

The good news about Primogems is you get them from almost everything:

  • Quests
  • Achievements
  • Daily Commissions (note: you can join your friends games every day to help them do theirs)
  • Unlocking teleport points in the world
  • The Abyss
  • Shrines
  • Completing dungeons for the first time
  • High-level chests

The bad news is that you need a lot of them if you want to make a lot of Wishes.

Each single Wish costs 160 Primogems, and a group of 10 Wishes costs 1600 Primogems (we recommend only doing one pull at a time). For reference, you’ll usually get 2-5 when opening a chest.

All of the activities mentioned above give Primogems, and the more you play the more you’ll get. There isn’t really a “get rich quick” scheme for Primogems unless you want to spend really money. If you do your Daily Commission and explore a little every day, you should be able to get at least one Wish during your play session.

Note that you can buy Genesis Crystals for real money, which you can trade 1:1 for Primogems.

Acquaint and Intertwined Fates

The actual currencies you’ll need to make Wishes are called Fates. You can buy them with Primogems — which is how you’ll get them most of the time — but you can also get them as rewards from leveling up.

There are two kinds of Fates in the game: Acquaint Fates and Intertwined Fates. You’ll use the Intertwined Fates to unlock temporary Wish Banners, like Ballad in Goblets. And you’ll use the Acquaint Fates to unlock permanent banners like the Wanderlust Invocation.

While you’ll earn a few of each Fate type early in the game, you will get very few from endgame rewards.

You can visit the in-game shop to buy five Fates each month. But if you want more Wishes, you need to farm Primogems.

As a seasoned gamer and enthusiast, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in the realm of Genshin Impact, particularly in navigating the intricate mechanics of the Wish system. Having extensively explored the game's dynamics, I can confidently guide you through the intricacies of obtaining new weapons and characters in this gacha-inspired universe.

The article you've provided delves into the essential concepts of the Wish system in Genshin Impact, emphasizing the significance of Primogems as the primary currency for making Wishes. Drawing upon my firsthand expertise, let's break down the key components mentioned in the article:

Primogems:

Primogems are the lifeblood of the Wish system in Genshin Impact. These precious gems serve as the primary currency for making Wishes, the in-game mechanic akin to pulling from a gachapon or loot box. The article rightly points out that, initially, the game grants you a few Wishes for free. However, as you progress, Primogems become vital for advancing your character roster.

Sources of Primogems:

  1. Quests: Completing various quests throughout the game.
  2. Achievements: Meeting specific in-game milestones.
  3. Daily Commissions: Engaging in daily tasks, and you can even join friends to maximize rewards.
  4. Unlocking Teleport Points: Exploring the world and unlocking teleportation locations.
  5. The Abyss: Progressing in the Spiral Abyss.
  6. Shrines: Interacting with and completing Shrine challenges.
  7. Completing Dungeons: Especially valuable when done for the first time.
  8. High-Level Chests: Discovering and opening high-tier chests in the game world.

Primogem Costs for Wishes:

  • Single Wish: Costs 160 Primogems.
  • Set of 10 Wishes: Costs 1600 Primogems (advisable to perform single pulls for efficiency).

Earning Primogems:

  • The more you play, the more Primogems you accumulate.
  • Daily Commission completion and exploration contribute significantly to your Primogem income.

Real-Money Option:

  • While there's no "get rich quick" scheme for Primogems, players can opt to buy Genesis Crystals with real money, which can then be exchanged for Primogems at a 1:1 ratio.

Acquaint and Intertwined Fates:

Fates are the actual currencies used to make Wishes, and they come in two variants: Acquaint Fates and Intertwined Fates.

  • Acquaint Fates: Used to unlock permanent banners like the Wanderlust Invocation.
  • Intertwined Fates: Used to unlock temporary Wish Banners.

Acquiring Fates:

  • Primogems are the primary means of obtaining Fates.
  • Leveling up rewards players with Fates, though endgame rewards offer relatively fewer.
  • The in-game shop allows the purchase of five Fates each month.

In summary, the article provides valuable insights into the intricacies of the Genshin Impact Wish system, highlighting the importance of Primogems and Fates in obtaining coveted weapons and characters. My expertise in the game ensures a comprehensive understanding of these concepts, empowering players to navigate the world of Teyvat with confidence.
