Albedo (1)

"Don't EVER insult Samael in front of me!" Albedo to the Four Archangels[]

Albedo, formerly known as Z by the orphans and caretakers at the Moonlit Garden is a demon and a child raised by the Moonlit Garden. He served as the Royal Scientist for the Demon Clan. Through use of the Philospher's Stone, he modified his own body, which grants him a level of power alike to one of the Ten Commandments, despite not being one. He possesses the inherent power Force Focus which he was previously unable to use due to his naturally weak body. Albedo is also the creator of the Commandments (Demon King provided the power, but Albedo split the power and made them individually sentient). He is the husband of Samael, the supposed mentor of Estarossa, former protégé of the wizard Gowther and adoptive father of Gabriel and Morgana.

Early Life:

  • Albedo was born in the Demon Realm to regular parents
  • He was taken at a young age to the Moonlit Garden; a program orchestrated by the Demon King, taking children with potential and raising them for the sole purpose of becoming Ten Commandments.
  • Given the name Z, his genius intellect soon becomes apparent, however his frail physical form meant he could not endure the recoil of his immensely powerful magical power and such could not truly become a commandment. Because of this he was given the role of the royal scientist supporting the clan from the background
  • However he soon found himself feeling guilty that he could not fight alongside his siblings in battle, and sought the mentorship of Gowther to figure out how to create a body that could fight. It is here where he meets Samael, who was a close friend of Gowther due to their similar pacifistic attitudes. Over the time Z stayed with Gowther and Glariza he and Samael get close, and eventually enter a romantic relationship.
  • During his studies under Gowther, he learned how to create various types of dolls and puppets and as such created an autonomous, self developing body which also served as a conduit for his demonic power and Catastros. With the assistance of Gowther and Samael he transferred his soul into his new vessel, and Z took on the name Albedo.
  • Shortly after this, the two parted and Albedo returned to the Demon Clan and joined the army, quickly rising up the ranks to become on the same level as the Ten Commandments, although he could not become one himself, due to his artificial body being unable to sustain a commandment.
  • According to Gowther's spell Albedo was supposed to be the mentor of Estarossa, although he empathised with Estarossa, he never truly cared about him as he could never get past his feeling that something was off.
  • During the Holy War he and Samael continued to meet up fairly frequently and for their 500th anniversary Albedo gifted Samael with an enchanted mandolin with a blade in its shaft that he continued to use for 4000 years after until its destruction at the hands of Galand.

Memories of the Holy War Arc:

  • When a horde of demons went missing, Albedo asked Samael to find them. Later he as well as Melascula, Monspeet, Derieri, Galand and Fraudrin, led an army of demons to Stigma's base, where they are confronted by Samael, who, after being unable to find their comrades like they asked, wished to prevent the demon army from being killed by Ludociel. After Derieri and Monspeet informed him that they believed that their comrades were being held in the forest, Raphael gave his word that he would stop Ludociel's plans, and when they didn't believe them he removed his immunity to the Commandments so the Commandment of Truth would affect him if he lied.
  • Once Ludociel's plan came to light, and Rajine was killed, Derieri punched Samael in the face, and Albedo protested that he wasn't lying
  • Albedo survived Samiel and Tarmiel's Omega Ark using the basic effect of Catastros
  • Albedo then proceeded to do battle with Sariel and Tarmiel
  • When Monspeet and Derieri turn into Indura, Albedo asks Samael to save them
  • When Samael later went to assist Elizabeth and Meliodas in their battle with the Demon King and Supreme Deity, Albedo went to go with him, willing to abandon his clan for the one he loves. However Raphael fires a beam of light into him from behind and removing his memories of ever being in a relationship of him, and solidifying it into a dark crystal. In doing so he not only removed Albedo's memories, but also those of whom knew of their relationship, with the sole exeptions of the Supreme Deity and Demon King, as Raphael did not have the power to do so. In order to do this, he was forced to sacrifice a large portion of his power, and in doing so, his original magic: Seraph's Gate.

Baste Dungeon Arc

  • Whilst playing a song on his mandolin after rescuing Ban, Samael has a flashback of meeting up with Albedo in a cave.

Vaizel Fighting Festival Arc

  • During the Vaizel Fighting Festival Raphael enters under the name Albedo, much to Meliodas' confusion

Armour Giant Arc:

  • Albedo is mentioned by Gowther when peering through Samael's mind as "Someone who he respects greatly" and then speculates that it isn't just admiriation. He is unable to snoop any further due to Samael's spell over his mind.

Interim Arc:

  • Meliodas and Ban question him on who is partner is, under the delusion that they are female, and fail.

Albion Arc:

  • He is revived by Hendrickson with the Ten Commandments due to their comparable power levels, but with his magic sealed. He then corrected the other commandments when they stated that the massive explosion in Edinburgh was due to Meliodas, by saying the power signatures did not match up, however he did not know who truly did it. They then fly away to a nearby hill
  • He is then ordered by Zeldris to search for a way to fully break the Goddess Clan's seal although Albedo is unsure if such a thing is possible. He later flinched and held his head when Melascula investigated the gem of darkness attached to the hilt of Samael's Sacred Treasure, left in Edinburgh to help seal the vampires.
  • He left with Monspeet and Derieri when Zeldris orders them to split up
