Canon[]
Affiliated with the Knights of Favonius, Albedo is the captain of the investigation team and chief alchemist, while Sucrose works as his assistant with a focus on bio-alchemy.[1]
As his assistant, Sucrose looks up to Albedo and respects and admires him to a fault. She thinks Albedo is very talented and intelligent. Sucrose tries her best to support him while doing her own research. The purpose behind this is what she calls a little secret[2], as she wants to create her own wonderland - just like in fairy tales.
As for Albedo, although Sucrose herself says that her research purpose is a bit of a mystery, he states that he more or less understands why she is so dedicated to her research in bio-alchemy.[3] He says that working with Sucrose is quite pleasant, but complains about how stubborn she is outside of research, as she often refers to him as "Mister Albedo," despite Albedo himself telling her several times to just call him by his name, since they are about the same age.[4]
Both Albedo and Sucrose spend most of their time as hermits. The first due to his slight aversion to talking to others because of the effort required to maintain social relationships[5], though he does not stutter like his assistant. The latter, Sucrose, expresses that "[t]alking is hard, so much harder than alchemy" due to her fear of offending someone or sounding rude because each personality is different.[6]
Princeps Cretaceus[]
At the beginning of Albedo's story quest, Traveler meets Sucrose, who praises Albedo and his many skills. After hearing of his accomplishments, Traveler and Paimon decide to meet him. Sucrose tells them to look for a refined gentleman with the presence of a true scholar, and bids them farewell.
The Chalk Prince and The Dragon[]
“If not for Sucrose, no one would have known that Albedo is hiding a great secret — one that involves a mysterious unknown sword and a mountain entombed in ice for millennia... Onwards and upwards, Traveler! In spite of the bitter cold...”[7]
In Act I, Traveler sees Sucrose outside of Dragonspine, so Traveler asks her what she was doing. Sucrose replies that she and Timaeus were helping Albedo research data. Sucrose tells Traveler that she feels Albedo is keeping a secret from her, and asks Traveler to try to find out what secret Albedo has.
In Act IV, Traveler and Paimon encounter Sucrose on Dragonspine Mountain, who has rescued Reckless Pallad from the cold. After showing Sucrose the sword of Festering Desire, they return to the makeshift adventurer's camp to get food and run into Reckless Pallad, who is lost again. As they are about to leave, the Fatui arrive and she takes Pallad to a relatively safe place. Albedo hears the commotion and rejoins the group. He reveals that he knew the curious Sucrose would eventually find her way here, and that she could not be kept in the dark for too long due to her attraction to arcane knowledge and mystery - for these are the qualities that make her a great alchemist. She tries to promise that she will not cause any more trouble, but Albedo replies that it is not trouble that concerns him, he is only concerned for her safety and wants her to be more careful next time.[8]
Albedo sighs and asks about the adventurer over there. Sucrose says that she took it upon herself to protect "Mister"” Pallad during the battle, and that he should be fine - however, he seems to have caught a cold, so she goes to check on him. While she is gone, Paimon comments that Sucrose is a bit rigid, but has a heart of gold, to which Albedo replies, "That girl... Let her out of your sight and she winds up in the strangest of places." The traveler then asks him not to be too hard on her, and Albedo says there is nothing to worry about since he is not angry.[9]
When Sucrose checks on Reckless Pallad, he pushes her aside and she falls to the ground, mistaking the light of Festering Desire for a source of warmth.
Windblume Festival[]
During the Windblume Festival, the people of Mondstadt offer windblumes to Barbatos and those they love and adore. The Windblumes may be accompanied by other gifts, such as love poems. While there is a romantic overtone to the Windblume Festival, Windblumes are not exclusively given with romantic intentions. The Windblume Festival is also an opportunity to improve all relationships. [10] The Windblume flower never physically existed.[11] In the present day, the true form of the Windblume flower is a subject of debate. Everyone has a plant that they consider their own personal Windblume. The Anemo Archon Barbatos supports the freedom of all individuals to choose their own Windblumes and does not name any particular flower as the Windblume, even going so far as to say that Windblumes are simultaneously everywhere and non-existent.[12]
In Act III of the Windblume Festival, Traveler is talking to Timaeus about his poetry homework, but he has been unable to begin it because Sucrose has tasked him with helping her decipher an ancient alchemical recipe for what she claims is a "windblume"[13], as to Sucrose, something about it being "extremely precious" made her think of it.
At her request, Traveler and Vent go to see Albedo at the campsite outside Dragonspine. Albedo asks Traveler to gather the ingredients. After Traveler has gathered the ingredients and Albedo has made the recipe, what Paimon recognizes as a "Big Sweet Flower"[14] is on the alchemy table. Albedo laughs and says, "It really does make me think of Sucrose." Venti nods and says, "Huh, it does seem like something she would like."
When the Traveler returns to Mondstadt to see Sucrose and Timaeus, and shows her the result of Albedo's alchemy, she uncharacteristically begins to speak very excitedly and quickly, claiming, "This is the Windblume of my dreams... a Tetratanic Sweet Flower. Bigger, stronger, sweeter and more beautiful - a perfect Teyvat species!"[15] "Whatever people say, this is my Windblume!" To which Timaeus adds, "Sucrose...is consistently Sucrose," before she leaves to find resources for her flowers.
At the end of Act IV of The Windblume Festival, there is a cutscene in which Sucrose waves to Albedo, who waves back to her and Timaeus.
Shadows Amidst Snowstorms[]
We first meet Sucrose who along with Timaeus had just finished talking to Albedo. Sucrose started to worry about Albedo when he started to leave for Dragonspine with an unusual look on his face. Then she thought that maybe Timaeus' research topic was boring and Albedo started to go crazy. Although this thought was later disproved when Albedo told the Traveller that he went to Dragonspine for his paintings and star silvers. Paimon later told Timaeus that she wanted to build a machine that could collect multiple sunsettias. Timaeus quickly declined, saying that he wasn't really a professional at that kind of thing. Sucrose added that Timaeus couldn't make that kind of machine because he wasn't an alchemist who focused on that kind of work. She later suggested that Paimon and the Traveller should look for Albedo if they want to make that kind of machine. But she later said that they shouldn't get their hopes up, since Albedo isn't interested in that kind of thing.

Alberose gained attention due to the 1.2 update of Dragonspine. It is Sucrose's most popular ship and Albedo's second most popular ship. Kaebedo is currently Albedo's most popular pairing. However, there is also Kaeberose, the polyamorous relationship between Kaeya, Albedo, and Sucrose.
Because Albedo gave Sucrose a Windblume during the festival, some fans interpreted it as a romantic gesture, while other fans interpreted it as a nice/friendly gesture.

- Sucrose's Chinese name, 砂糖 (Shātáng), usually corresponds to the English term "granulated (or table) sugar" and is used to refer to sugar in general. Albedo, on the other hand, enjoys desserts. Both of their favorite foods are sweets.[16]
- In the Sweet Paradise x Genshin Impact collaboration, Albedo's cake and Sucrose's drink are both made of sweet flowers, and the alchemy table in the background suggests that they made them together (with Klee) in Dragonspine - more specifically, in Albedo's camp, since the decoration is different from Eula's.[17]
- Probably because they work in the same field, they have matching clipboards. Albedo's is yellow and Sucrose's is green. Their clothes are also the only ones in the Knights of Favonius that match.[18]
