They do a good job! They come in a timely manner, are professional and a solid company. I will recommend and use them, again.

Only able to clear 50%. Old drain, coffee can. Told need to remove/replace. Said will call back with estimate, never did.

The A-1 plumber showed up punctually, then waited patiently for 3.5 hours while my building engineer delayed shutting off the water. Once water was off, he rerouted my vanity drain and H/C water pipes in less than an hour. Unfortunately, it cost $100/hr for the 3.5 hours he had to wait around while the water in the building drained off.

The plumbing repair was done in a timely, professional manner, but within 2 days, the problem began recurring. We were told that we would be charged again to have the problem resolved, so we opted for another company who came and did the job for the same cost, but it included a longer snake and camera. After the 2nd company came, we have had no problems.

Wish I had some provider who could put the wall back as the plumber knocked out the wall to get to the leak, but had to find someone else to retile the wall.

BUYER BEWARE!! I recently had a 10 year old sump pump that served its purpose - no problem; and it died. I paid $99 for a 5 minute visit to "assess" the situation. I paid $1700 to replace my original equipment with the same functionality. In a span of one month, my new sump pump required a service …

The worst. I have used A1 Budget Plumbing Kailua on and off since 1983. Sometimes they do a good job and sometimes not. I had them install a toilet in the 80’s that ended up costing $1200 just for installation (I provided the toilet) and required many visits. Never worked right. One time the guy came and just emptied water out of the tank into his bucket, charged me, and left. Didn’t do anything to fix the problem. I was young and shouldn’t have paid him. The last time I tried to use them was a few years ago, to install a garbage disposal. Lady gave me a price on the phone because she said it was something that is easy to estimate. Made the appointment, waited for the day to arrive, sat home to wait for the plumber to arrive and shortly before the appointed time, lady calls to tell me that they are not coming. She said they will not do the work for me because the last time they came a couple years before to give an estimate, I did not pay. At that time they were not charging for estimates. I would never agree to paying for an estimate, even thought they say that the cost of the estimate will be deducted for the bill … IF you use their company. From past experience I knew to make several appointments for estimates right away, because they can vary dramatically. If you wait until you get one estimate before scheduling the next, it will take weeks, and maybe months, until you can schedule the work. On the occasion in question, it was a leak in one of the hoses under the kitchen sink. A1 Budget Plumbing came to give an estimate which was $465. Yeah sure!!! As he was leaving, the next plumbing company was driving up to give their estimate. I could see that it was an easy fix but was willing to pay $100 to $150 or so, so I didn’t have to climb under the sink. Next guy was nice and even reviewed with me exactly what to do, but his price was high (no where near $465) for what was obviously a minor repair. I ended up driving to the hardware store, bought a little hose for $7 something and some plumber tape for grand total $14, drove home, and made the repair in less that 30 minutes from when I left the house until the project was complete. It was just turning off the water under the sink, unscrewing the hose, wrapping the plumbers tape, screwing on the new hose, and turning the water back on. A1 Budget Plumbing is charging $465 for that? And then 2 years later they waste my time playing games because they wanted to rip me off for $465 or to pay for an estimate that I didn’t agreed to and which they were not charging for at the time. I was upset and read reviews about them on Yelp at the time and found similar experiences to mine. The lady’s name that I have talked to over the years came up several times in the reviews. Last time they will ever get my business.

Could not fix. Recommended I replace toilet.

Multiple times I have used A-1 Budget Plumbing, always do good work for the price. A-1 Budget Plumbing responded recently on a Sunday (holiday weekend, 9/4/16) to fix that leaking toilet tank. They made quick work of it and did a great job. Previous jobs ran between $80 - $300.

Great, Thomas was very polite and efficient. He took the time to explain what he was doing and did extras such as tighten the tank on the toilet since it was a bit loose. He said to not tighten it too much since it could crack the bowl.

since the plumber was in the building doing an identical job, the dispatcher was able to schedule me right after he completed the first job. had to run the snake into the main drain and found a blockage 15' inside. He made sure that all the fittings were not leaking before he left..

Our water heater pressure relief valve was leaking and flooded the laundry room and part of the garage. We called A-1 Plumbing in the morning and the plumber arrived that afternoon. Kevin drained the water heater and replaced the pressure relief valve. When he tested the new valve, it also leaked. He then went to an outside faucet and checked the house water pressure. The water pressure was too high (about 100 psi when it should have been 60 psi) so he then had to then replace the water pressure regulator valve located outside the house. When he removed the regulator, a one and a half foot section of copper pipe that was improperly installed when the house was built, fell off in his hand. Kevin crawled under the house to replace it. Once that was completed, he replaced the regulator. All this was done at night, in the dark and in the rain. It turns out the water heater leak was a blessing in disguise because had the water pressure remained high, it would have probably damaged a lot more of our plumbing. We've used A-1 Plumbing for years and will continue to call on them when there is a problem. They have always been responsive and given us great service at a fair price.

The first plumber they sent took a look, didn't do anything to try to clear the water jets but said that the toilet needed to be replaced and bill me $90. Not being happy because the guy didn't do anything to clear the problem, I called the office and told them what happened. I asked them if I were to get another plumber and he could fix the problem, would they pay for the repair visit. They said they would send a second plumber to see what he could do. The second guy at least did something for about 10 minutes then said I needed to replace the toilet. They did not charge me anything. Since I had Toto toilets I called the Toto tech support and explained the problem. They said that it's more than likely calcium build up that's clogging the jets and the toilet does not have to be replaced. A friend of mine who worked in construction but is not a plumber came over to help me. He checked the jets, got a hammer and nail, gave it a couple of taps and the toilet worked as good as new. If I had listened to the plumbers from A-1 Budget Plumbing, I would be out the cost of a new toilet plus the cost of a plumber to replace it.

The first and third jobs went very well. Both Joe and the more recent #0036 (wish I could remember his name) were very communicative and did excellent work. Perhaps the only issue is that I had asked Joe to do many things and somehow we never got around to fixing dripping faucets; this was handled on the third visit. The only bad experience was this: the day after toilet installation I noticed that one of the toilets was running slowly. There was an A1 truck at out condo 1/29 so I called the company and asked them to send their man up after he finished with whatever job he was on. This was #0290. He was less communicative, and ended up replacing the (new) fill valve. This was not the issue: it was a problem with the flapper not sealing. However, when I called A1 to complain they refunded the entire amount of my bill, so I am satisfied with them. (It was a new American Standard Champion 4 Max toilet -- top rated on Consumer Reports and an excellent toilet, but this one had a defect in the fill valve. In the end, Home Depot gave me a replacement tank top.) So I would give them top scores but had to reduce one to a B for this experience.

Tommy did a fantastic job. The motion-sensor faucets are very challenging, but he clearly had the correct training/certifications. The bathroom sink had very old and corroded fixtures, requiring brute force at times to remove them. Tommy had to install an extension tube to close the gap between the new faucet outflow and the original drain. Despite several challenging situations, he kept his humor and completed the tasks. Of note, he cleaned up after himself and left a clean work site.

Excellent. Plumber went right over and took care of it. Didn't charge me a fortune, even though it was xmas eve. Tech went back to repair something else a few days later.... for free. A-1 is the BOMB. I really appreciate finding them.

Provider responded promptly the day I requested help for a leaky faucet in my kitchen. He was able to replace the original faucet with a high quality faucet that he had in his truck and I was very pleased with the results.

Called and requested an inspection of a bath tub corrosion issue. Office help was very friendly and made appointment without any trouble. Since I was able to be at site to pay technician, I paid for services with credit card over the phone. Really appreciate the ability to pay with credit card instead of check. Technician came out the next day and performed the inspection. He performed inspection and reported his findings to me directly over the phone. He promised to send me a written report. Unfortunately the report didn't come right away. This was a problem as I needed it immediately. I called the office and found he was on vacation. I ended up pleading with office to get a copy of report after 6 days. They finally got the report to me. Overall I like the company, and would definitely use them again.

A-1 responded quickly to our call. As usual they were professional and did the work quickly and with outstanding craftsmanship. The price was higher than before but it was Sunday evening.

A+++ I have hired this company on 2 separate occasions and yes, it's hard to give people an estimate without knowing what they are getting into, especially here on Oahu. They showed up on time, they were able to give me an idea (ballpark) as to how long it would take and they were true to their word. I appreciated their professional attitude and they exceeded my expectations.. I will be calling them for the next project --- complete renovation of both bathrooms. I give the A++ as they were very courteous, trustworthy and on every project the service was superior and their prices were very fair. Ask for Sean -- he is the best plumber! I hope they keep him....

Arrived on time with all tools, worked quickly and professionally. Cleaned up after his work ... have requested the same installer to be assigned for next plumbing job - scheduled for Wednesday September 18 when water an be shut down in highrise.

Have had a-1 budget plumbing out half a dozen times for the same problem (backed up water/ clogged drain line). This past time I had a different plumber out. he found a wad of clorox wipes ijn the line. I thought we finally had the issue solved., I started backing uo again a week later. (I do not know why the first person missed that). They would give us no curtousy, said they do not warranty drain work. At this point I must have spent $1000 clearing this line. I am absolutely certain noone put anything down the drain, toilet... so tired of this same problem which should not be that difficult to fix. I would not be unhappy if they at least gave us some curtousy when the problem came back 1 week later. The men who have been out have all been very nice,prompt, professional,no issues there whatsoever. But, how many times do I have to havge the same line cleared? Their yellow pages ad says they warranty their work, but even 1 week later, would not (saying they do not know what we put down the drain). I am positive noone put anything down the drain! Joined Angie's list today because i did not want to have them out a 6th or 7th time for the same problem with no warranty!

They have great service. They are reasonable and on-time. They do excellent work!

He fixed a leaky kitchen faucet.. I didn't notice until several hours later that he had removed and taken my old (and working well) faucet spout. It had a wide rotation capability and I am unable to find another like it in the local hardware store. I had to look on the Internet to try to find one similar to my old one (still looking!)

They arrived at the appointed time and after pointing out the problem to the plumber, they started to set up to break the cement open. I asked them to stop as I only wanted an estimate for the job. They told me they don't do estimates and charge a minimum of $146.00 an hour. I told them there hour was up paid them and asked them to leave.
