If you do have a car, why not make the most of that expense?

While you may see some additional wear and tear on your car, getting paid to use it can help offset the overall costs of owning a car.

They can not only be a great mode of transportation but also a great way to earn some extra income.

Don’t worry if you don’t like the idea of driving people around in your car, there are other ways to make money with your car without driving around strangers.

Here are seven ways to make extra income with your car and only two involve other people in your car. So if you’ve got a car and some spare time, check out these side hustles with your car.

1.Become a Lyft Driver

If you have a car or access to one, consider becoming a driver with Lyft. It’s easy to sign up, takes about five minutes, and can be done at any time. As a driver, you’ll pick up passengers within a certain radius of your location. You’re paid per ride, the more rides you take, the more you get paid.

I’ve been working as a Lyft driver for over a year and love it as a side hustle. You choose when you work, usually I work when there are guaranteed rates but there are lots of bonuses that they offer as well. If you didn’t already know Lyft is a ride sharing service similar to Uber.

Find out Everything You Need to Know About Becoming a Lyft Driver.

2.Drive for Uber

Similar to Lyft, there is Uber, lots of people will actually drive for both. Both Lyft and Uber are ridesharing services.

If you have a car or van, then you can become an Uber driver. This means you are able to make money by picking people up at their location and transporting them to where they want to go. It’s very easy to get started with this service because all you need is a vehicle and a smartphone.

Martin from Studenomics has a very detailed post about his first week driving for Uber.

3. Deliver with Amazon Flex

Amazon Prime Now is the service by Amazon that allows items to be delivered same day, within a couple of hours of your order. Deliveries are made by Amazon Flex drivers.

This is a great opportunity to make money with your own car. All you need is a car (or access to one) and a smartphone.

If you like the idea of making money with your car but don’t love the idea of sharing your car with strangers, then Amazon Flex could be a great side hustle for you. However, you should know that Amazon Flex is only available where Amazon offers Prime Now.

The Rideshare Guy has a post about driving for Amazon Flex.

4. Deliver with Postmates

Postmates is a mobile app that connects people who have goods they want to deliver with those who are willing to receive them. It’s like Uber meets TaskRabbit. If you’re interested in making money by delivering or receiving packages, this is one of the easiest ways to make extra cash.

Postmates is similar to Amazon Flex in that you are delivering orders others have made through the app. However, unlike Amazon, Postmates is just delivering food from restaurants or fast food joints.

Stealthy & Wealthy has a detailed post on how you can get started driving for Postmates.

Other food delivery sites that you could work for include: Order Up, DoorDash, and GrubHub.

5. Do a Favor

Favor involves being paid for “favors” you will be delivering pretty much anything the customer needs. It could be something from a restaurant or some office supplies, clothing or something else. Unfortunately, this is only available in certain areas.

Free Work From Home Guide details what is required and how you can get started working as a Runner for Favor.

6. Earn Money Delivering with Instacart

If you love grocery shopping, then why not get paid to do it for others? You can by working for InstaCart. If you don’t like grocery shopping but wouldn’t mind just delivering groceries you have that option.

Instacart lets you make money by delivering groceries or other items to customers. Customers order their groceries online through the app, then you pick them up at one of more than 5,000 stores across the country.

Since I have no experience with InstaCart, I’ll let Work at Home Mom Revolution explain how you can earn money working with InstaCart.

7. ADVERTISE ON YOUR CAR

Don’t want to drive people around or deliver stuff? You can still make money with your car by selling ad space on it. Just be wary of scammers and make sure you work with a reputable company.

There are many different ways to advertise on your car, but the most common way is through vinyl decals. These decals come in various sizes and shapes and can be applied directly onto your car’s glass. They’re easy to apply and remove, they don’t damage your paint job, and they last for years.

Student Loan Hero walks you through how you can Get Paid to Advertise on Your Car.

Wrapping it Up with a Bow on Top

As you can see it is pretty easy to turn your car into a source of income. It makes for a great side hustle because you can choose how many hours per week you work and even when you work.

The gig economy we live in makes it easy to earn extra income with your car without any initial investments or specialized skills.

Simply fill out a form online and you can be on your way to driving for a ride share company or delivering goods for Amazon, Postmates, or another company, or you could just rake in passive income by agreeing to have ads placed on you car.

Whatever you choose, there is no doubt you can somehow make money with you car. Have you tried some of these? Tell us about them in the comments!
