7 Things to do with your Fake Flower Wedding Bouquet after the Wedding - Mod Min Lifestyle (2024)

in Home & Lifestyle on

My husband is allergic to flowers. This isn’t an issue most of the time, until we went to plan our wedding. I didn’t want my husband to be sneezing and miserable all day, so we opted for all fake flowers. I had the floral department at Michael’s Craft Store make the bouquets, corsages, boutineers, and I had fake hydrangeas as centerpieces. Michael’s did a fantastic job and I am so grateful to them. Now I have my bouquet and my maid-of-honor’s bouquet, and I didn’t know what to do with them! I thought about keeping them as bouquets for our future kids to play with, but I knew there must be better things to do with such a sentimental item. Here is the list of ideas I came up with:

Watercolor painting of bouquet

I did this with my bouquet and it’s the best thing I’ve done. It looks gorgeous and now I don’t feel as guilty taking apart my bouquet for other projects. I had mine done by a local artist Shelby Kregel. You can visit her website to request your own here www.shelbykregel.com or follow her on instagram @shelbykregel

Flower crowns

I plan on taking apart my bouquet to do make a flower crown for me, and a infant sized crown for a future daughter. I think it would make really cute maternity and newborn pictures to have us literally wearing my wedding bouquet.

Put in a shadow-box frame

These can look really cute especially with fake flowers since the fake flowers don’t lose their color. You would follow the same directions as with real flowers to make this.

Floral letters

If there are any flowers left over after I make the flower crowns, I plan on making one of these floral letters in the shape of an “S”. I really like having “S” as an initial and I have it all over my house. Having a floral letter is a great way to “display” the bouquet without having a literal bouquet on your wall.

Make a floral wreath for door

I love having a wreath on my front door and I don’t think wreaths will ever really go out of style. This is another way to “display” your wedding flowers while still having a tastefully decorated home. I plan on doing this with the fake flowers I had on the tables as centerpieces for a spring wreath.

Make a corsage for your daughters future prom or for you to wear to her future wedding

If you do this one, you will be holding on to it for a while and hoping that corsages are still in style in 2-3 decades, but it would be very sentimental to wear your own wedding flowers to your child’s wedding. I am too nervous that corsages would go out of style, or the flowers wouldn’t match the future wedding style/decor, but I could see me taking the flowers off of the wreath or out of the floral letter to make a corsage in the future.

Make a centerpiece to be used during the time of your anniversary

There are so many ways to use your fake wedding flowers! I like to rotate a centerpiece on my kitchen table and it would be meaningful to have a centerpiece of my bouquet to have out during May to celebrate our anniversary. It would be another physical reminder of the wedding day and the promises we made to each other and continue to keep.
