WASHINGTON - The
Rapper and producer Sean "Diddy" Combs followed through on his million-dollar promise to his alma mater Howard University, one of the country's historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
In 2018, Johns Hopkins University received what is believed to be the largest donation to a college: $1.8 billion. Historically Black college and university (HBCU) Spelman College received the largest donation in HBCU history of $100 million for its 100th naming anniversary.

The donation is from businesswoman and philanthropist Ronda Stryker and her husband, William Johnston, Chairman of Greenleaf Trust. Stryker has been a Spelman College Trustee since 1997. She has worked for decades to empower women through higher education and advance opportunities for additional marginalized groups.

And as of Thursday, Spelman has set another historical milestone centered around the wonderfully round number. On Thursday, the Atlanta-based liberal arts institutions received a $100 million donation. It is believed to be the single-largest one-time donation ever granted to an HBCU.

Mordecai Wyatt Johnson (January 4, 1890 – September 10, 1976) was an American educator and pastor. He served as the first African-American president of Howard University, from 1926 until 1960.
The U.S. Congress chartered Howard on March 2, 1867, and much of its early funding came from endowment, private benefaction and tuition. (In the 20th and 21st centuries, an annual congressional appropriation, administered by the U.S. Department of Education, funds Howard University and Howard University Hospital.)
