Now, while you shouldn't leave all your lights on all day, it's not going to cost much if you have a more efficient bulb. The largest savings come from switching to LED bulbs, using nearly 5 times less energy for the same brightness.

In short, we don't recommend LED bulbs for your eyes if you're after better overall eye health and/or lessened eye-strain - and especially not your standard run-of-the-mill LED! LED is a truncated visible light source, and normal, non full spectrum types often have unnatural spikes in blue light wavelengths.
How many hours are LED lights good for?
