What are the purple trees blooming now in Tennessee?
The Paulownia or Princess tree also blooms in spring with panicles of purple flowers. Paulownia was introduced in the mid-1800s as an ornamental landscape plant. It is now considered an ecological hazard, especially to Linville Gorge and along I-40 near the Tennessee state border.
Redbud. Another tree with purple flowers in Tennessee is the redbud tree. These trees are actually native to the state and tend to flower in early spring. And while the blooms are pink, the leaves that replace them are a redder hue—the inspiration for the name “redbud.”
