India's gross domestic product (GDP) grew 8.7% in FY22. In its annual Trade and Development Report 2022 released on Monday, it said that world economy is expected to grow 2.6% in 2022 which is 0.9 percentage points below the rate projected in last year's report.
Moody's slashed India's economic growth projection for 2022 to 7.0 per cent from 7.7 per cent, as a global slowdown and rising domestic interest rates would dampen economic momentum. Moody's Investors Service has now lowered its projections for India's growth twice.
On a calendar year basis, the report says that India's GDP is projected to expand by 6.7 per cent in 2022 after a 9 per cent expansion in calendar year 2021, as base effects wane. GDP growth for the country is forecast to slow down to 6.1 per cent in calendar year 2023, the report said.

GDP growth forecasts for India for 2022 have continued to decline, whittling down to about 6% in light of global headwinds such as rising interest rates, which raise the prospect of recession. The U.N. Conference on Trade and Development said India's GDP growth would slow to 5.7% in 2022, after hitting 8.2% for 2021.

Is Indian economy good now?
India is already the fastest-growing economy in the world, having clocked 5.5% average gross domestic product growth over the past decade.
