For example, an 11x14 (which refers to the inside perimeter of the frame) used to frame an 8x10 image could be referred to as both an 8x10 frame or an 11x14, assuming the complete frame package contains the appropriate mat board. However, a frame that is 11×14 with no mat will always be an 11×14 frame.

However, in the example above, you could even go a little smaller if you so choose. 8x10 is another standard size, and the artwork of my 8.5x11 prints will all fit inside that opening.

You have to setup your printer to take 11 x 14 in the Print dialog. Click on Print Settings, select the paper size, save the settings and you should be able to print to 11x14 if your printer can.
An 11x14 print is a standard size, and pre-cut mats to fit 11x14 are readily available. The problem is, that may not be the best “format” to showcase your prints. The remainder of this article will show how I deal with this problem.

Legal size is 8.5x14" not 11x17.

Frame width, the total width of your frames, matters most.
The idea is to get frames that work well—both visually and aesthetically—with the width of your face. If your frames are too narrow, it will make your face look wider. Conversely, a frame that's too wide will make your face look narrower.
