How long do sola wood flowers last?
Sola flowers are a natural product. They are a 100% biodegradable, sustainable material. Q: How long do they last? A: Forever!
How early can you dye the flowers? This is one of the most common questions we get asked and the simplest answer is: as soon as they arrive!
In order to soften up the sola wood flowers, many are turning to glycerin. Glycerin is a chemical that can be used to soften your flowers, which keeps them from breaking and chipping. Vegetable glycerin can be found on Amazon, in pharmacies, grocery stores and other places.
The best way to prevent this from happening is by storing it in a cool, dry place. Keep moisture away by storing it in breathable mesh bags or woven baskets. If you're putting a lid on the container, add silica gel packets inside to absorb excess moisture in the air.

Painting, Scenting, and Handling
Be gentle when handling your sola wood flowers. As they get wet, their petals become more and more delicate to the touch, so when you work on them, try not to get too rough.
They can! I recommend not leaving them in direct sunlight for any longer than necessary, and to bring them inside if it starts raining. Extended direct sunlight can cause the colors to lighten. If they get wet, mold can grow & then you'd need to dispose of the flowers.
You can also use a small spray bottle to moisten your flowers. Just spray the petals a few times to get them damp and pliable, then you're ready to fluff! Start by carefully peeling back the petals starting with the outermost layer, continue until all of the petals have been peeled back.
How long does it take for wood flowers to dry? Most flowers will take around 24 hours to dry. Bigger flowers may vary in their drying times so we leave them in the drying racks a while longer.
It can be found at your favorite local craft store and has a large color selection. You want about a 2:1 ratio of water to paint.
How do you keep Sola flowers from uncurling?
If you would rather not want to deal with having to reshape a flower but still want to dye the sola wood flower we would suggest using either an airbrush to apply your paint/ink or try spray paint for those flowers that tend to uncurl going the dip-dye route!

Preserved fillers last about 10 years looking the way you purchased them - after this, although they last forever, they may discolor or dry out some. Humidity may make preserved fillers "bleed" - dried fillers are better for outdoor use in this case.
