Can an introvert be an artist?
Since they are very much in the public eye, people may not necessarily expect that they may be introverts. But introverts often have rich inner worlds and are especially creative – and some introverts can actually thrive on performing and being on stage.
Art can feel like a lifeline in a world that drowns out introverts. While there are assuredly beautiful forms of collaborative art, many introverts find a refuge in the solitary aspect of artwork.
Creative people are both introverted and extroverted but at different times and in their own versatile ways. The companionship of other people is required to brainstorm and develop creative ideas whereas solitude can be necessary in order to let the idea incubate.

Creativity often seems to come from a deep connection with our inner world. Underneath the surface are sparks of imagination, waiting to ignite. Because we do our best work in solitude, creative introverts may be less reliant on established norms and more able to see and hear new things.
Let's recap on how to overcome your shyness as an artist:
Explore the world often. It's education, and the more you know, the less you have to fear. Believe in yourself, but more importantly, make a detailed plan on how to reach your goals. Planning reduces anxiety which then reduces your fear and insecurity.
Because they are naturally very observant and thoughtful, introverts are also excellent listeners. Great leaders don't just talk, they listen intently — to their employees, consumers, and anyone else around them. They're vocal about their ideas but are also open to feedback and change.
ISFP. The actual art artists of the MBTI world can tend to be ISFPs. These people know how to create extraordinary sensory paintings with a tactile touch. If you've felt yourself experiencing visceral emotion after gazing upon an esoteric drawing, it might have come from the wellspring of ISFP creativity.
The often highly sensitive nature of artists allows them to find beauty and joy in places that others may not. But the trade-off is that they're often more vulnerable to darkness and sorrow that goes undetected by the less creative or sensitive person. This can leave them feeling shy, isolated, and prone to depression.

While it's true that introverts are often very creative, this doesn't mean that they are automatically more innovative than extroverts. Carving out alone time is something most introverts prioritize, which does lend itself to creative breakthroughs and new ideas, but that's not necessary for innovative thought.

Several studies exist to support our assumption that introverts are smarter. A study by "The Gifted Development Center" found that around 60% of gifted children are introverted (compared with 30-50% of the population) and that the same is true of 75% of highly gifted children.

Why do I doubt myself as an artist?
Artists are especially prone to self-doubt due to the nature of our work. We pour our hearts and souls into our creations—whether it's painting or sculpting or writing or crafting—and then have to find the courage to put that work out into the world, which is full of critics and judgment and rejection.
When you start doing, drawing, and making consistently, your skills will start improving. As your skills improve, you'll gain more trust and confidence in yourself and your art. Every time you make something, you've thrown yourself headfirst into the cycle, and you've already done the hardest part.
Artists and creatives are often stereotyped as being loners, and while this may not actually be the case, solitude can be the key to producing their best work. For Kaufman, this links back to daydreaming -- we need to give ourselves the time alone to simply allow our minds to wander.
However, introverts don't need a wide circle of friends. They prefer one or two close friends, even though they may know many people and have many acquaintances. Despite this preference, introverts are often criticized for not attempting to make more friends, and are often viewed as lacking social skills.
They are trustworthy.
They “process feelings, not only their own, but others' as well, in an earnest and thorough way,” says Jones. Because of this, they are more understanding and really understand their dates' feelings. Being aware makes introverts synced up with their dates.
The truth is pretty simple: Being an introvert is normal and healthy. 30 to 50 percent of the population is introverted. Being an introvert does not mean you're shy or have social anxiety.
Introversion and Happiness
While introverts are generally likely to report lower levels of happiness than extroverts, this does not mean that introverts are unhappy. Ultimately, it's important to note the happiness benefits of both introverted and extroverted behavior, no matter where you fall on the spectrum.
Costa and McCrae's work has found that from about age 18 to 30, people tend to become more neurotic, more introverted, and less open to new experiences; they also tend to become more agreeable and more conscientious.
Finally, a study published in the Journal of Neuroscience found that introverts had larger, thicker gray matter in their prefrontal cortex — the area of the brain associated with abstract thought and decision-making.

"One big mistake that people make with introverts is that they're shy. It's not that they're shy, it's that they're thinkers.

Why are artists so moody?
This predisposition might be spurred by family interests, exciting teachers or mentors, or by their own talents. Artists may also be acutely sensitive to the ambient moods, sounds, pictures, people and events in their lives. They may resonate to their surroundings at an unconscious and deep emotional level.
Most artists are driven by an innate, compulsive desire to create. They get a huge amount of satisfaction from making things. For example Pablo Picasso was famous for his prodigious output, by some estimates the Spanish master created up to 250,000 works in his lifetime.
Why artists struggle with relationships. Being creative is hard. Thinking up ways to connect disparate elements into a whole that not only hasn't been seen before but also delights us with surprise, meaning, or beauty requires a great deal of energy—"executive function," as psychologists put it.
