"A CHRISTMAS CRACKER"

After two years of non performance on stage, The Christopher Singers were very proud to present their Christmas show, "A Christmas Cracker" on 18th
December, 2021. The story was written by Patricia Dale and celebrated The Dames of Traditional Pantomime.
Dames from Mother Goose, Cinderella and Jack & The Beanstalk to name a few were depicted in all their "finery". The two ugly sisters brought laughs galore from our audiences. If you take a look on the Gallery you can see their
very fetching costumes.
Our cow danced and entertained everyone with her antics, saving herself from going to market by producing milk and cream. And yes, poor Jack ended up with the cream on his face!
Our thanks to everyone who attended our Matinee and Evening performances for joining in and making the day so successful. It was not clear who enjoyed the entertainment the most, the children or the young at heart. The squeals of delight from the youngsters when Father Christmas arrived was delightful!
The Carols and Christmas Songs rounded off the performances. The Twelve days of Christmas this year was performed in a slightly different
format than usual. The Singers did not have close contact with the audience and led their tables with number cards. The audience, again, was very cooperative, singing loudly to outdo their competitors (even though masks were worn)…..I do believe that Table 2 gets louder every year…...well done all.
There are so many people both on stage and behind the scenes to acknowledge when putting on our Christmas Show.
Thanks to Patricia Dale, our writer and Stage Director, and her brilliant
rehearsal team.
To John Steel, our Musical Director and Neil Shrimpton, our piano accompanist for their expertise in everything musical.
Gratitude to each and every one of The Christopher Singers, who
worked their socks off to bring this show to the stage. Also thanks to our
guest performers David Ryland, John Beavis, Sarah, Hollie, Dani and Emillie. You were all amazing. Oh! Yes you were!!!
Lastly, a huge thanks to our Stage Manager, who went out of his way to
decorate the stage, was responsible for lighting, effects and most of all
for putting up with me on Front of House duties and Box Office.
Our motto of teamwork has kept us going throughout these uncertain times.
Hopefully, we will be putting on our summer show at The Elmcroft Community Hall. Watch this space for further information.

Wishing you all Joy, Happiness and Good Health for 2022.

he wanted to invite all his friends……..speaks for itself.

"TROUBLE IN TOYLAND"

Well, The Heroes found Ken and he was reunited with Barbie who had a fantastic 60th Birthday Party. The Witch eventually kept her hat on and Wiz stopped sneezing. What a wonderful Panto, an original story tale, written and stage directed by Patricia Dale, especially for The Christopher Singers. Fab-U-Lous! Thanks also to Patricia's rehearsal team.

Our gratitude to both of our audiences….you were truly amazing! Your interaction with the cast was great and the faces of all the children showed that they thoroughly enjoyed themselves! I think Santa may have had something to do with that too!!

The Choir rounded off the entertainment with a very varied choice of songs and carols. The children melted the hearts of many with their renditions of When Santa got stuck up the Chimney and Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer. Without fail the infamous Twelve Days of Christmas was enjoyed by our audiences who tried to see who could sing the loudest…..well done Table 2 (Matinee) and Table 7 (Evening). Appreciation John for your lovely selection of seasonal music.

Our gratitude to John Steel, Musical Director and Neil Shrimpton, Piano Accompanist, for 'all things musical' and Tim Mitchell for
lighting, designing and building such a magical set.

Thank you to each and every one of The Christopher Singers. Your hard work and dedication has proved worthwhile and, once
again, you have produced some great entertainment. Our guests, David Ryland (Wiz) and young people, Ed, Sarah, Holly,
Dani and Emily all played great parts. Well done! Once again Worcester Park Dramatic Society kindly supported us with an advertisem*nt in their recent programme.

A special mention to Lynda Mitchell for not only playing a great Elf, but for organising the refreshments during the intervals. Our After Show Chill Out was organised by Diane Masters (Witch) minus hat and green face. Our appreciation…….Brilliant!

We are proud to continue supporting The Oaks Centre for Children and Young People, The Royal Marsden, Sutton. Thank you for your continued support and generosity.

Last, but by no means least, once again I have enjoyed every moment being part of this wonderful group. Wishing you all A Very Happy Christmas and Joy and Peace in 2020.

Love - The Impossible Dream

Wow!! Without doubt one of the finest Shows that The Christopher Singers
have presented. This year the script was written by our Music Director, John Steel, who also chose a beautiful selection of musical numbers to match the different emotions and stages of love. The Company did throw in a few ideas of their own too!!
The Content, the Characters, the Costumes, the Colours……..I feel a song coming on…….and the Commitment of the Company all mixed together made perfect Team Work. Every emotion has been brought to life in this Show….all in music
and voices. We are, first and foremost, a singing group and endeavour to pay tribute to Composers and Lyricists of all the music performed in Love - The Impossible Dream. We have a new Stage Director, Patricia Dale, who has put forward so many brilliant ideas which have worked well. Thank you Patricia for your awesome direction. So many people to acknowledge for their expertise:
John Steel - Writer and Producer, Music Director - for dreaming up this beautiful idea.
Neil Shrimpton - Bandmaster and Piano Accompanist - what would we do without you?
Chris Kimber - Our Drummer - who added a touch of magic to the band.
Tim Mitchell - Stage Manager and Master of Everything Stagey.
Alison Lee and Malcolm Stephens - who lit up the performances literally…..Stage Lighting.
John Beavis - (who will always be one of us) Guest Singer,
Edward Wheeler - A young singer in the making Thank you John and Ed for your splendid performances.
Angela Goodall - our Programme and Poster designer
Surrey Video Services - for producing DVD of this show (copies available by request).
Stepping Out Company - for use of their Lighting facilities.
Worcester Park & North Cheam Community Association - for support in hiring Elmcroft Community Centre.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our two audiences for their generosity in supporting us and for being such a pleasure
for us to entertain. We leave you with this message…..you have brought smiles to the faces of The Oak Centre for Children and Young People, The Royal Marsden, Sutton.

Last but not least, again I have loved every moment working with John and The Christopher Singers on Love - The Impossible Dream.

Alice.. The Panto

Our Pantomime for 2018 was written by Archie Wilson and performed by our very talented team on 15th December at The RBL Hall in Cheam. Our Stage Director, Patsy Dale, decided to stretch the abilities of the cast outside their comfort zone….and my goodness how well it paid off. Photos on our Gallery. Our thanks to Patsy for her time, her experience and her understanding of each of the players.
Thanks also to Patsy's team who did a grand job.
Two fantastic audiences joined in the fun of the Panto…..all the children were so responsive it was truly Wonderland. Your support and generosity is much appreciated. We continue to support The Oak Centre for Children and Young People, The Royal Marsden Charity Appeal.
John Steel and Neil Shrimpton, (our Music Director and Piano Accompanist), made a great team providing their expertise with the music.
Our very lovely scenery and Wonderland setting was built and set by Tim Mitchell our Stage Manager…...amongst his attributes are also Stage Lighting, Front of House and putting up with me in our joint Box Office ticket sales! Can't thank you enough Tim.
Not forgetting The Christopher Singers…..on behalf of your audiences...you smashed it!!!!! Two wonderful shows ...take a bow!!
Following the Pantomime a splendid array of finger foods was served and a big thank you to Lynda for arranging it all. The White Rabbit does really work!!
Our Christmas Songs and Carols were beautifully sung by The Choir and our little guests Isabelle, Hollie, Dani and Sarah entertained our guests with Away in a Manger...tear jerker…. and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer for which they had requests for more. They then sung Rudolph with added dialogue to cheers and applause. Well done all of you.
The highlight of the evening was, oh! yes it was!, The Twelve Days of Christmas. As usual everyone joined in…...well if they didn't, maybe the Queen would chop off their heads……...and had great fun.
We would like to thank Worcester Park Dramatic Society for the loan
of stage props and for supporting us in the programme of their recent production.

Once again I have enjoyed working alongside John Steel and The Christopher Singers, what a great 2018.

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money to help The Royal Marsden provide world-class treatment and care for cancer patients, and to support its pioneering work in cancer research and education.

When people support us, they help everyone who benefits from the work of The Royal Marsden. Scientists searching for cures. Doctors who depend on the very latest drugs and equipment. Nursing students looking for the best in clinical education and of course, cancer patients and their families.

It is thanks to people like The Christopher Singers and all those attending this concert [Showstoppers] that we have been able to start work on the second phase of building our new Centre for Children and Young People. This new Centre will be Europe’s leading Centre for children and young people and the world-leader in paediatric drug development. The Centre will be the most advanced of its kind in the country. There will be expanded day care and outpatient services, as well as brand new age-appropriate inpatient accommodation for children and teenagers. The Centre will also have the only facility in the UK dedicated to the early clinical evaluation of new therapies for childhood cancers.

All of these improvements will help The Royal Marsden provide a much more efficient and responsive service for young people. The extra capacity will help the hospital meet growing demand, reduce delays in treatment and provide an adaptable space that’s more suited to children and their needs.

Thank you for your amazing support and I do hope you all enjoy the show.
