The average cannabis flowering time is 6-10 weeks and sometimes longer. The length of time plants are in flower depends on the type of cannabis you're growing as well as the conditions you're growing in.

It can take anywhere from 4 to 8 months to grow a cannabis plant, this varies based on where you're growing. With an indoor grow room, you have total control over environmental conditions and your plants are able to flower after only a few weeks!

In week 5 of flowering, you can observe the buds all over your plant becoming thicker. You may also spot new buds growing in new places such as along the main cola. With buds abounding, your cannabis plants will get fatter every day. This is a surefire sign you are in full flowering mode.

Trichomes are the tiny, crystal-like structures that cover the buds, containing cannabinoids like THC and CBD. As the plant matures, trichomes will change from clear to cloudy to amber. The best time to harvest is when most of the plant's trichomes are cloudy, with some transparent trichomes turning amber.

How Long to Veg when your goal is large yields per plant. For large yields, measured on a per plant basis, and not on an annual basis, then go for a longer veg period, in excess of 8 weeks. Ten to twelve weeks will give you a very large plant going into the flowering period.

Mid-Flowering Stage: Bud Bulking Up (Week 4-8)

Allow the plant to focus on enlarging its flowers rather than dealing with stress.

This vegetative production phase requires less than 12 hours of continual darkness per day. Once plants reach the desired size, the reproductive phase is triggered by extending the nighttime (dark) period and consequently decreasing the daylight hours.

If it's not in their genes, it could also be due to a lack of phosphorus which tends to come out during the flowering phase, maintaining a healthy green during the growth period and at around the fourth flowering week the leaves will begin turning purple, lilac or slightly red.

So how do you know when it's time to harvest? The telltale sign of harvest-ready weed is when the hairs of the plant, or pistils, have fully darkened and curled in. If your buds are looking thick and dense, but there are still some straight white pistils, it's not time yet.

Light intensity. Light is the most important factor when trying to get denser cannabis flowers because lights help cannabis plants produce sugars through the photosynthesis process which helps them grow, just have in mind that not any light will do, weed needs an optimal light intensity to produce big fat buds.

Is it okay to harvest with white pistils? ›

White Pistils: During the early stages of flowering, pistils are predominantly white. At this point, the plant is not yet mature, and it is too early to consider harvesting.

At the absolute minimum, you should wait until 50% of the trichomes are cloudy and 50% of the hairs have changed color. Again — do not harvest if fewer than 50% of the trichomes have turned milky. And do not harvest if fewer than 50% of the pistils have turned brown/orange.

When Should I Stop Watering Before Harvesting? You should cease watering them one to three days before harvest. This should be done after flushing. The plant will feel like it is dying and ramp up resin production in a desperate attempt.

Carbonated water

If you're looking for high-yield veggies, you can't go wrong with cucumbers, pole beans, radishes, squash, zucchini, peas, and tomatoes. These vegetables are easy to grow and have been known to produce a large amount of produce per plant, providing you with a bountiful harvest that lasts for weeks.

Radishes are probably the fastest growing vegetable in your garden, being ready to pick in as little as 30 days from planting the seeds.

Changes from Week 4 to Week 5

It is in Week 5 that the buds really begin to fill out. Even more growth will occur in Week 6 and beyond. If you recall the vegetative look and feel of the first three weeks, Week 4 represented a distinct shift away from veg and into flower.

High-quality buds are a deep green color with red, orange, purple, and/or blue hairs and frosty white trichome heads. Cannabis flowers that are very light green may indicate premature harvesting. Very dark green or brown weed usually indicates flower that's past its best.

⭐ Bud fattening phase

For most commercial genetics, weeks 5 and 6 of flowering is when the buds fatten the most, but it is also possible that even within the same variety, because faster and slower phenotypes can appear.

Big Bud should be added from week 3 to 6 of flowering, and Bud Candy from week 5 to 8, both with low doses and monitoring the EC of the nutrient solution.
