What if there were a method to become a multimillionaire? (2)

“I will be a multimillionaire in 10 years.” This is what many computer engineers tell themselves as soon as they graduate.

It’s a completely justified thought; the IT profession, our profession, is among the most successful professions worldwide. It’s true that thousands of Maghrebi IT engineers have already surpassed the million-euro threshold in turnover and assets.

I can only rejoice at seeing more and more young engineers having quantifiable ambitions in millions of euros!

Money has sometimes been taboo in our culture, but whether we like it or not, it remains one of the best ways to measure success, an excellent means to accelerate our projects, improve our standard of living, and that of others.

Certainly, aiming to earn a lot of money quickly doesn’t statistically favor us. The thousands of millionaire engineers represent only a tiny fraction of Maghrebis residing in France. So, if you set this goal, keep in mind that less than 1% manage to achieve it in ten years, and for the remaining 99%, it can sometimes turn into a feeling of failure or disappointment.

The good news…

It’s a feasible future project, attainable for almost all IT professionals.

It requires (just) a large dose of ambition, effort, and dedication to reach it.

Those who achieve it all understand that 10 years pass by very quickly; one should not waste time and set precise milestones to succeed in reaching this goal.

I have met a large number of Maghrebi engineers who have achieved this goal, and I share with you key steps that, in my opinion, have enabled them to succeed in their professional careers and significantly improve their standard of living in less than 10 years.

Naturally, one might think it’s luck, “Baraka,” or that they had millionaire parents, etc., but I can assure you it’s much less difficult than what is often portrayed.

Simply observe and analyze the journeys of these individuals endowed with deep insight to understand how they manage to move from one level to another with great discipline and ambition.

Indeed, for this goal to materialize, one must be very ambitious in the long term but very down-to-earth in the short term, forcing oneself to dream and progress in small steps.

From what I’ve observed among over 10,000 engineers, 6 levels/stages stand out clearly, and with my Tunisian friends, we’ve called them the “mirror template” 10 10 1 and 1 10 10.

⚠ I must clarify that there are other templates you could follow to become a millionaire, but this one is my favorite, and I can talk about it with confidence because I’ve personally seen it happen about ten times among IT engineers and developers in my network.

This template is here to encourage discipline, and it works well if you force yourself not to skip the steps and to progress through the levels as quickly as possible.

Let’s start with the first part (the easiest 😛) 10 10 1. That is, reaching 10,000 dinars per month => then 10,000 euros per month => and then 1 million dinars per year.

Objective number 1: Earn 10,000 dinars per month (€3,500 / month)

For this step, on average, we give ourselves 3 years. This is the least difficult level to achieve compared to the other 5.

To earn €3,500 / month, there are several complicated ways if you wish to stay in place, but there is also a fairly classic and most significant method: working in France!

A Maghrebi IT engineer who gets a permanent job in a company in France earns an average of 40k / 42k€ per year (≃ €3,500 gross per month).

Depending on the technologies and years of experience, some can even aim for more, but for our framework, €3,500 is sufficient :)

It didn’t make much sense to think of more before reaching this salary level, but now that this milestone is achieved, one can start enjoying, traveling, pleasing our loved ones, and especially preparing for the next milestone!

Objective number 2: Earn 10,000 euros per month

This step corresponds to a real change in an engineer’s career.

There are several paths and possibilities to achieve this income level (€120k / year), but the most common one I’ve seen in my network is transitioning to freelancing.

To transition to freelancing, there are some administrative obstacles, a request for a specific residence permit, but you can easily find a lot of information on the subject.

In any case, thousands of engineers have transitioned to freelancing, and it remains the most popular way to double or more than double your salary.

A large portion of freelance IT engineers in France invoice between €450 to €550 per day.

Some charge lower rates, but it’s uncommon. On the other hand, others charge much higher, earning up to €1,200 per day! We’re talking about rare profiles, highly valued and perfectly in line with current trends. (Market Finance Experts, Data, SAP, Cloud, Sophis, AM…)

In any case, what’s important to remember is that at €450–550/day, you’ve validated your second level!

A 10-year residence permit and €10,000 gross/month… You can now continue your evolution in the framework and aim much higher.

Objective number 3: Earn 1 million dinars (€350k)

Now that you have impressive turnovers, positive balance sheets, you become the darling of banks, and all your requests are easily accepted.

You can now become a homeowner without needing large down payments and irrespective of your status (married, single…).

You can target T2 apartments in the heart of Paris or slightly larger ones for the equivalent of €350k or more.

At this stage, some engineers choose to stop.

Acquiring your first home is an important step in a Maghrebi’s life, as it is culturally significant for us.

Those who decide to stop here choose to focus on their marriage, naturalization, children

So, for this first easy milestone, 10 10 1, you probably realize that it’s quite achievable, and you probably know several people who have achieved it quite quickly.

Reaching a million dinars in assets is symbolically a milestone in Tunisia, even if, as you know, talking about €350k doesn’t impress anyone these days.

If reaching the 10 10 1 stage is already fabulous for you! Excellent…

This stage is one that everyone passes successfully :)

If you are among those who aim to reach for the stars by targeting €10 million per year, then we’ll meet during the special 1 10 10 🚀

The most interesting part of our framework, the “1 10 10” or to translate that into millions: 1 million euros >> 10 million dinars >> 10 million euros 👑

Impressive figures, without forgetting that we set ourselves the goal of achieving all this ten years after obtaining our engineering degree :)

I’ll let you calmly do your own calculations to determine which stage of 10 10 1 1 10 10 you are in. And I propose discussing the next steps at our next meeting.

PS: For the first part 10–10–1, as you know, we can help if you want to
