The new vests will be made from recycled bottles and have bigger pockets than previous vests. The vests are "neutral steel gray," and most associates will wear bright blue trim. Associates at Walmart's smaller Neighborhood Market stores will wear green trim.

“Our new vests have a modernized style that takes advantage of trim detail and screen printing to introduce color in an eye-catching way,” Walmart said in a release. The company said the neon color will help customers more easily spot Walmart associates.

The Yellow Vest makes us easier to pick out and identify for customer service, as it is seen as a “front-end only" vest color. That doesn't really hold up though when you think about how cashiers, who are also front end, have blue ones.

Supercenter associates will receive a steel gray vest with blue trim. Neighborhood Market associates will get vests with green trim. Bringing your true self to work means bringing your own style, so later this year, there will be lots of options for associates to customize their looks.

Walmart Dress Code Requirements

The only requirement for a Walmart dress code is a vest and a name tag, which Walmart provides all employees with.

Generally that would be a Neighborhood Market. Those are smaller footprint stores focused on grocery, with a much lower selection of general merchandise.

The green Walmarts are Neighborhood Markets. They're generally smaller, carry mostly just the basics (and sometimes localized items), have shorter business hours, and have a much smaller staff. The blue Walmarts are mostly all Superstores.

In 2019, it was announced that on April 26, greeters would be replaced with 'customer hosts' at 1,000 stores.

The bright blue color of the vest can be used to indicate workers who are working with or near non-moving aircraft. Again, similar to green vests, blue vests are used as an identification option when many different color vests are being used to differentiate response teams.
