Here is an overview of common easy-to-find valuable collections that may make you productive several years from now:
Sneakers
You have probably seen long queues of people waiting in line for hours (or even days) to get a pair of the latest Nike sneakers. If that puzzles you, you will be (positively) amused to learn that there is a multi-million dollar resale market for rare and vintage sneakers.
Many rare sneakers sell for thousands of dollars on eBay and other auction sites. For example, the original version of the Nike Jordan 1 OF Bred sells for more than $2,000 – this may not seem like much, but it is still profitable considering that its original price was just $65.

Vintage Cars
Vintage cars rank among the most valuable collectibles. These include real cars and model cars (hot wheels, as they are commonly known).
Some vintage cars are considered priceless and are preserved by museums for public viewing.
Vintage cars have sold for millions of dollars at auction. For example, the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO sold for $70 million in action.
Model cars will also fetch you a pretty coin – for example, the 1969 Rear-Load Beach Bomb is valued at $100,000.
Comic Books
You don’t have to like or read comic books to profit off them (but an intimate knowledge of the niche is an added advantage).
Comic enthusiasts will be willing to go to extreme lengths, including forking out millions of dollars to get their hands on a limited or rare issue.
For example, the original 1938 Action Comics #1 cost only 10 cents when released, but it sold for more than $3.21 million on an auction on eBay just decades later. The most lucrative comic books are those that feature covers with first appearances.
Vintage Books
Books will soon be a thing of the first as digital reading platforms such as Kindle and stand-alone eBooks take over. This is sad considering that the human race has passed down its history (and everything that defines us) through the written word.
Some people are unwilling to let go that easily and will pay a fortune for a vintage copy of their favorite books. Different rare/vintage books have sold for varying sums over the years.
One of the most notable sales was the first version of the classic The Great Gatsby, which is valued at more than $400,000.
Coins
Coins are one of the most common collectibles. Rare coins are highly sought after by museums, governments, and other entities that are usually willing to pay top dollar.
For example, the 1894-Barber, vintage, and rare dime sell for an average of $1 million – there are also records where these coins have been sold for more than $2 million to private banks. As such, get yourself all the necessary coin collecting supplies and join the hunt.
Postage Stamps
Collectibles are synonymous with coins and, most commonly, postage stamps. Collecting stamps is a hobby for most people, but some collectors have made millions off it.
Stamps are a thing of the past, which is why they are so valuable. The fact that fewer and fewer stamps are getting issued every year also means that prices for vintage and rare stumps will continue appreciating.

However, it should be noted that stamps are not as lucrative as some of the other items on the list, so you need a sizable collection to make a worthwhile profit.
Dolls & Action Figures
Dolls and action figures make for a cute collection, and they can fetch you a fortune if you find the right buyers. For example, the 1980s Cabbage Patch Dolls are valued at between $3,000 and $5,000.
Action figures sell for more than that, primarily because of the multi-billion dollar industry created around the niche, such as the 1963 classic G.I. Joe action figure sold for $200,000 at a private auction in 2003.
Join the Hunt
Collecting rare items is lucrative and fun, so join the hunt and try to attain a fortune. Remember, there is one necessary condition for making your collectibles valuable: they have to be in mint condition!
