By: Sean McConeghy

Updated 7/20/2022

2022 will be an exciting year for collectors of American coins as the United States Mint continues some popular series and begins others. Among the highlights this year will be the commemoratives, which celebrate baseball’s Negro Leagues and the Purple Heart Hall of Fame, as well as silver medals honoring some branches of the armed forces. In addition, circulating coinage offers a unique appeal of its own as the America the Beautiful Quarters Series gives way to the American Women Quarters Series. Here is an overview of these and other products that collectors will be able to enjoy this year.

Please note that while initially the United States Mint had 2022 Peace and Morgan Dollars with a Proof finish on their 2022 product schedule, on 3/14 the United State Mint announced that due to global pandemic and the availability of silver blanks from their suppliers that both program will be paused in 2022, but are planned to return in 2023. Starting in 2021 the United States Mint reintroduced Morgan Silver Dollars and Peace Silver Dollars that bear the same iconic designs as their historical counterparts.

This page will be updated as more information is released about each of these programs by the United States Mint. Information is subject to change based on United States Mint updates.
