There are many benefits to using the Travel On app. Some of the key features include:

Destination advice, risk ratings and security alerts

Educate yourself on your destination before and during your trip via expert, up-to-date intelligence and information.

Travel advice can include details on food and water safety, vaccinations types you should consider before you travel, cultural gestures to be aware of, where you can access ATMs, local tipping rules, and much more.

Risk ratings provide you with a security assessment snapshot of your destination relating to crime, civil unrest, terrorism, and more.

Real-time security alerts based on your location

Stay informed about any active and ongoing travel, safety and security related incidents in your destination country that might impact you before your trip or while you’re traveling.

If a threat is identified and you need to be aware of it, you will be contacted and given expert safety advice. In this situation, Travelex’s travel assistance partner (World Travel Protection) will contact you via text message, app notification, and email to ensure you don’t miss the alert.

Examples of notifications include: COVID-related restrictions, transportation disruptions, and terrorist incidents.

You can download the Travel On app and create an account any time after you have purchased a Travelex travel insurance policy.

To access all the advantages of the app, you will need to add a trip. It doesn’t matter if your trip is next week, next month or next season, you can add a scheduled trip to the app at any time.

If your trip is within 30 days, you’ll gain full access to intelligence related to your chosen destination(s) immediately so you can start learning and preparing. If your trip starts in more than 30 days, your trip will be added to the app and you’ll be notified 30 days before your trip starts that intelligence is now available and you can start exploring.

What information do I need to download the app?

You can download the Travel On app at any time. As a policy purchaser you’ll create an account in the app using your policy/confirmation number, first name, last name and date of birth.

However, to access the full benefits of the app, you will need to add in your upcoming trip(s) using your policy/confirmation number. This number can be found in your Confirmation of Coverage email. If you are downloading the app on or after May 10, 2022, your trip will automatically be added to the app for you.

How many travelers can use the app?

All travelers covered under the primary traveler’s Travelex Insurance policy can access and use the Travel On app.

To provide other travelers on the policy with access to the app, simply share your policy/confirmation number contained within your Confirmation of Coverage email. They will also need to enter the purchaser’s last name as part of the validation process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the app have information about the COVID pandemic for my destination?

Yes, the Travelex Travel On app will display COVID-related alerts to help keep you abreast of changing government restrictions if they are relevant to your trip destination(s).

Where can I find my policy/confirmation number?

If you are the primary policyholder, please refer to your Confirmation of Coverage email that Travelex sent you when you purchased your travel insurance policy.

If you are covered by a Travelex policy but are not the primary policyholder, please contact your primary policyholder and request the policy/confirmation number contained within the Confirmation of Coverage email from them.

I just purchased another policy, how do I add this to the app?

If you already have the app downloaded on your phone and purchase a new policy, you can sync this to the app by going to the top left menu and select Your Policies. If your new policy is not listed you can tap on the Sync Existing Policy button, enter your new policy/confirmation number to find it, then tap the Sync button.

I’m traveling to multiple destinations on my trip, can I get info and alerts for all of them?

The destination listed on your policy at the time of purchase will be loaded onto the app initially. If you have more stops planned in your itinerary, those are easy to add in. Navigate to the top left menu and select Your Trips. Tap on the plus button in the top right to add another destination. Type your destination city or country and travel dates – be sure the travel dates match the exact dates listed on your policy.

When do I use the SOS button within the app? Is it only for emergencies?

If you’re a Travelex policyholder and you need assistance while you’re traveling, you can use the SOS button available within the Travel On app at any time to speak with our 24/7 travel assistance team.

If you need assistance our team can help you get the right support when and where you need it at the touch of a button. (Yes, there is no need to search through your emails for the right number to call; simply open up the app and use the SOS button.)

Our 24/7 assistance team can also support you with non-emergency support (such as locating trusted local ATMs or replacing lost prescriptions) via the SOS button if needed.

Will it cost me to make a call using the SOS button within the app?

When you select the SOS button within the app, your device will provide the correct number to call to access assistance based on your policy. You will then need to select ‘dial’ on your device to place the call to the assistance team.

This means you will need to have access to a phone plan, Wi-Fi, local sim card, or international roaming while on your trip to be able to connect with the emergency assistance team. These factors, plus various rates for international calls, may result in a charge from your mobile carrier.

Why should I allow the app to send me notifications?

Allowing Travel On app notifications helps you focus on enjoying your trip instead of thinking about constantly checking the app for new intelligence that may affect you. If you’ve activated notifications, the app will automatically alert you when new intelligence is available or if the assistance team has contacted you about an active or emerging risk. It’s a simple way for you to stay updated on important information with little effort.

Do I need to have mobile data “on” to use the app and benefit from its features?

Yes, to use the Travelex Travel On app and receive alerts or notifications relevant to your current location and trip, you must have access to Wi-Fi or an active mobile phone data plan within your location.

What email address do I use to create an account in the app and how will it be used?

You can use any email address when setting up an account in the Travel On app , however, it must be an email address you have configured on your device and have access to during the setup process and ongoing. If you don’t have access to it, you will not be able to use the app or benefit from its features.

The Travelex Travel On app requires policyholders to supply an email address for a couple of reasons:

  1. Your email address is used as a unique identifier to create your app account. When you come back to use the app for your next trip it’s a simplified process only requiring your email address to log in.
  2. Your email address is used to send service emails during the account set up, which allow you to activate your account.
  3. Your email address is used as a form of communication between you and Travelex’s assistance partner should they need to advise you of an active or emerging risk that’s nearby or that you need to be aware of while you’re on your trip.

For information on how we collect, store, and use your personal data, you can view the Travel On app privacy policy.

Why do I need to give you access to my device’s geo-location?

Allowing access to your device’s geo-location while you’re on a trip helps the Travelex team keep you safe.

When you add a trip to the Travel On app, your trip destination is recorded at a city or country level, depending on what information you’ve provided. This information is then used by Travelex’s assistance partner (World Travel Protection) to monitor against risks and security alerts that may affect you while you’re at your travel destination(s).

Because it’s unlikely you will stay in one place during your trip, providing us with the geo-location of your device allows the team to precisely monitor active and emerging issues at your current location as you travel.

For information on how we collect, store, and use your personal data, you can view the Travel On app privacy policy.

You can contact them via:
