Ten Easy Ways to Save Money Shopping on Amazon - Penny Pinchin' Mom (2024)

Amazon is one of my go to sites for shopping. I shop for household items, toys, gadgets and more. Not only is it convenient, they often have the best price!

Amazon offers many ways to save money. The trick is learning how to make them work for you. After belonging to Amazon Prime for years, I’ve found a lot of amazing ways to save money. Lucky for you, I’m sharing my favorite Amazon saving secrets right here!

1. Join Amazon Prime.

Amazon Prime is the paid membership service offered. I love my Prime account because of the incredible perks. The annual fee is $139, but I save at least double that on an annual basis.

Not only can you get free shipping on thousands of items, but they offer much more. There is free cloud storage, the Kindle lending library, video streaming — and more! The perks are things many of you may not about. However, here is one that many people often do not realize:

If your order placed using Prime is not delivered within the time promised, they might give you an additional month of Amazon Prime – for free!

Another reason to love this service is Prime Early Access to lightning deals. This can be especially helpful during the busy holiday shopping season to score a deal on that must have item. Not only do you get early access, there are also discounts reserved only for Prime members. This can make for some pretty sweet deals.

If you aren’t sure that Prime is really for you, try it risk free for 30 days (if you have not had a trial within the pat 13 months). Shop with all of the benefits of the service. If you love it, continue at the rate of $99 per year. However, if at the end of the month you still feel it is not worth it, cancel and pay nothing.

Don’t forget that you can actually SHARE your membership with other family members too. This allows you to split the cost and save both of you money. You are limited to sharing with just one other member, but it is a great way to really help one another when saving.

2. Utilize coupons.

Did you know Amazon has coupons!? Clip the coupon for the product you want and the discount is applied at checkout.

Amazon makes it simple to find coupons. They have a page on their site which shows all of the coupons available for the month.

  • All Coupons
  • Beauty

3. Order using Subscribe & Save.

This is one of my favorite ways to save! Subscribe & Save automatically qualifies your order for free shipping – even if you do not use Amazon Prime. Not only that, you save 5% instantly on the item you purchased.

If you happen to purchase up to 5 items in a single month using this service, that 5% savings actually increases to 15% off of your purchase!

All items will ship at once, at the end of each month. That allows you to add to your purchase for up to 30 days to get the best discount possible.

Your item will then be set up for automatic shipments. This can be great as it will send you the items you need on a recurring schedule. However, you will pay the price at the time the item ships, and not the original price you may have paid.

It is easy to suspend or cancel future shipments. That gives you more control over what you receive and when. An email reminder will be sent to you before the items ship out, so you can make a decision at that time.

4. Warehouse Sales.

These sales are limited to items that were returned to Amazon. Once opened, these items can not be sold as new. They are offered at a discount to shoppers. You can find household items, electronics and more, at all reduced prices.

Rest assured that every single item is hand-checked and graded to ensure that it is priced appropriately. If you find that the item doesn’t meet your standards, you can return it within 30 days for a full refund!

Check out the Warehouse Deals page to see what is available right now.

5. Amazon Family.

This is an add on to Prime. Amazon Family membersget all of the Amazon Prime perks. They also receive additional savings such as:

  • 20% off of diaper and wipe subscriptions
  • Exclusive Amazon Mom coupons and codes
  • Sign up for 30 days for free

If you have kids in diapers, this is a must have! Many times, the deals you find on Amazon are the same as, if not better than, those at your local store. Best of all, you have the added convenience of shopping from home.

6. Freebies!

Amazon has amazing free offers all of the time! You can find free books, apps and music – right at your finger tips!

  • Kindle Books for Free
  • Free Android Apps
  • Free MP3 Downloads

7. Daily Deals.

Every day, Amazon offers daily deals. These discounts last 24 hours, or until the item is out of stock. In addition, there are also daily lightning deals. Those deals run for only 1 – 2 hours, so you want to grab those the minute they start.

When we get into the holiday shopping frenzy, these deals really take off and often start every 10 minutes! You have to be quick on the buy button to grab a deal, but it can be worth it! Follow my tips to help you scoreAmazon Lightning Deals!

8. Amazon Pantry.

Amazon Pantry saves you money and time. This service allows you to buy food, beverages, household items, pet care products and more – without leaving home! You are able to save with the low prices and coupons which are offered. Stock your box with the items you need and then it is shipped to your door for a fat rate of $5.99 per box.

Each box can hold up to 45 lbs of items (approx 4 cu feet). As items are added to the box, you are alerted to know how much space you have left to fill.

The reason that this works is that it allows you to purchase single items for one low rate. This service brings your groceries to you.

9. Watch CamelCamelCamel.

This is a price watching site. You create and account and then add the items you want to watch for price drops. Then, enter your desired price. When the item hits that amount on Amazon, you receive an email notification. Check out CamelCamelCamel to get signed up.

10. Shop Amazon Outlet.

The Amazon Outlet is a treasure trove of deals. There are outlet pries on everything from clothing to jewelry to electronics. Visit this page frequently and buy when you see something you want as quantities can be limited and may sell quickly.
