Our Drawing Intensive is a two-week course geared for the most serious and dedicated pre-college students. Students will cover overarching drawing concepts that relate to understanding and developing skills around essential foundations. The ‘big ideas’ include being able to use formal techniques such as perspective, value, and observational drawing skills. Students will develop skills through mark making, experimentation, and completing a series of drawings across various dry drawing media.

The goal of an “animatic” is to help artists define the pace and timing of their animation in the pre-production phase. In this camp we will create multiple drawings that illustrate the characters and narrative of an original story. After students create their drawings, they will stitch them together to form a short video with an added soundtrack. An animatic is the precursor to the final animation, and is a key part of the planning process. This camp is a great pre-requisite for students taking animation or motion comics camps.

Students will learn about color theory, different texture creating techniques and how to prepare a canvas for flow painting.
