Cheers to whom ever had the idea to revitalize Missouri and 7th Street in Phoenix.
Pure genius. The area lends itself to housing multiple restaurants that are close in proximity. It feels like a real metropolitan area… FINALLY.I was tired of driving past the abandoned Sizzler, rundown buildings and frankly giant eye sores of random junk and pieces of the past that served no purpose. The uptick of giving a face lift to a historic area is returning Phoenix to its glory.Stock and Stable is a perfectly fitting piece to the larger puzzle of fine dining in the area. For this night out on the town two of the three “Whiskey Sisters” joined me in see what Stock and Stable was all about.

Note:The “Whiskey Sisters” are Erin,her sister Kathleen and my friendKelly. All three drink Jack Daniels Whiskey as their first choice of beverage. Its a bit intimidating because they are Bad A** chicks who can ALL hold their liquor. Keeping up with them is not for the faint of heart. I have never attempted because I’m a light weight delicate flower when it comes to adult beverages and wouldn’t last a single round with them. They are in a league of their own.

7th Street and Camelback is officially hoppin! Major kudos to the “The Colony” in Uptown Phoenix for bringing in yet another hip establishment. A gastro-pub addition rounds out the neighborhood joints. Surprisingly parking it not an issue. Although it looks like valet is the only way, there is ample parking in the back.And I’m a sucker of giant neon lit arrows so that is a gold star from me. Oh… and Stock and Stable is a slight reference to the nearby icon bridal path aka Horse trail on Central.
Astronaut Art
Building
The highlight of the 1950’s brick building is out of this world artwork. I’m not sure why, but there is a floating astronaut in space taking up the entire exterior wall of the restaurant. A fantastic photo op. Prior to entering Stock and Stable is a colorful and open patio that lends itself to a fun dining experience. Its covered entirely and has the oh so delightful vintage hanging bulb lighting to keep the party going well int the night.

My favorite part of the place is the inside. Its a western inspired, slightly hipster gastro-pub. Textured walls are the absolute coolest thing about the decor. Small distressed wood tiles that vary in color line the walls to add unique depth and warmth to the inside. Cowboy art of different materials is hung on the walls while a simple flower in clear vase acts as a center piece to the wooden table tops. Seating 180 people there is a surprising amount of room. Even patrons at the back of the restaurant can see past the 29 seat horse shoe bar to the front and enjoy the scenic view of Uptown. Fantastic lighting inside from natural light is always a good thing.
Food and Drink
Love that the menu is in a leather bound book. fits right in to the old west meets modern age vibe. I was going through a “No Dairy” week during this opening so Erin and Kathleen were the taste testers. Here’s the review.
Salt Cod Tots: Interesting to say the least. Passing on the opportunity to try a tater tot is something I have never done. A salty combination of flavors people enjoy fish would enjoy this dish.
Carpaccio
Carpaccio: A fresh take on the dish. The flavor and color combo is unique.
Tarragon Garganelli
Tarragon Garganelli: A lighter version of a seafood gumbo. The texture is what I found to be most delightful.
Dog and Pony Show
Dog and Pony Show: Goes down smooth. Light and refreshing. One of those drinks that can get a person into trouble.
Bar Keep
5 Points: Was not as good as we had hoped. Nothing blended together. There was no merriment of flavors.
Port of Call
Port of Call: Cool sipping co*cktail. Drink this drink because of the aroma and flavor combo.

Overall
I would try Stock and Stable again. Prices are a little steep, so it’s a once in a while type place for a person who usually eats food for fuel. However, foodies would rather enjoy the unique menu. If there is a aquafaba lover among the group, (the liquid that remains after draining garbanzo beans) this is for them. The spirits menu has plenty of choices. Brunch seems like a fantastic option, even happy hour. Stock and Stable has made it onto my rotation.
