    Driver's Licenses or State IDs can be added to the following Galaxy devices:

    Galaxy S Series - S20 or later

    Galaxy A Series - A53, A54

    *Mobile Driver's License or State ID is only available on devices running Android 12 or above.

    1 Driver's License or State ID from a state issuing authority can be added to Samsung Wallet.

  • 6.What permissions need to be allowed to use and add a Driver's License or State ID to Samsung Wallet?

    To use your Mobile Driver's License or State ID in Samsung Wallet, certain permissions must be granted, including:
    - Camera permission: Required to capture images of you physical ID, and for face scanning.
    - Location & Nearby Devices: Required to connect with reader.
    - NFC (this is not a permission, but users will be asked if they agree to turn on NFC): Required to present Driver's License or State ID by tapping your device against a reader.

    Valid Driver's Licenses or State IDs from participating US states may be added to the wallet.

  • 8.I'm having issues with the Face Scan, what should I do?

    To help the state issuing authority confirm your identity, a Face Scan will need to be captured. If you are having issues completing this step, please consider doing the following:

    - Stand in front of a plain background
    - Make sure there's enough lighting around you
    - Remove any accessories that may obstruct your face (i.e. masks & sunglasses)
    - Hold your camera steady at eye level
    - Ensure your entire face is in frame

  • 11. How do I use my Mobile Driver's License or State ID?

    At participating airport TSA checkpoints, you have 2 options to present your Mobile Driver's License or State ID at a TSA digital identity reader:

    NFC: To present your Mobile Driver's License or State ID using NFC, tap your phone near the NFC reader. When you have done this successfully, your phone will display the information requested by the TSA digital identity reader. Authenticate via fingerprint or PIN to confirm and share the requested information with the TSA digital identity reader.

    QR: To present your ID via QR code, open the Samsung Wallet app. From the "Quick access" tab, scroll to and click on your Mobile Driver's License or State ID. Authenticate to continue to the card details page, then select "view QR code" to generate a QR code. You can scan this QR code on the reader. When you have done this successfully, your phone will display the information requested by the TSA digital identity reader. Authenticate via fingerprint or PIN to confirm and share the requested information with the TSA digital identity reader.

    If you change the information on your physical driver's license or State ID, your Mobile Driver's License or State ID will be automatically updated to reflect the changes once they are confirmed by the state issuing authority, usually within 24 hours.

    No, a Mobile Driver's License or State ID is not a replacement for a physical ID. A Mobile Driver's License or State ID can only be used in select instances that require ID presentation. You should continue to carry your physical driver's license/State ID as a form of identification.

    Yes. As the first step of the Mobile Driver's License or State ID provisioning process involves taking a picture of the front and back of your physical driver's license or State ID, the possession of a valid physical ID is required to provision a Mobile Driver's License or State ID in Samsung Wallet.

  • 22.When does my Mobile Driver's License or State ID expire?

    The expiration date displayed in the details section of the Mobile Driver's License or State ID card is the same date that appears on your physical Driver's License or State ID. However, rules on document expiration and acceptance (for both physical and Mobile Driver's Licenses or State IDs) vary by state.   • 23.How do I add my Driver's License or State ID to Samsung Wallet?

    1.Open the Samsung Wallet app
    2.In the "Quick access" tab, click on the "+" button at the top right corner, click on 'Digital IDs', then select "Driver's license/State ID" from the icon list. As an alternative, this can be done from "Menu" tab by selecting the "Digital IDs" icon, clicking on the "+" button at the top right corner, then selecting "Driver's license/State ID".
    3.Ensure that your state is among those listed as participating and hit "Next".
    4.When prompted, scan the FRONT and BACK of your ID and hit "Next"
    5.Read and accept the Ts&Cs to ensure you understand the Face Scan process and hit "Next" (this scan will not be stored on the device but will be used to match to your ID and verify your identity).
    6.Follow the on-screen instructions for your Face Scan. The Face Scan is a way to verify “you are you”, the rightful holder of the Driver's License or State ID, and is for verification purposes only.
    7.Click "Submit" to complete the application. You will need to authenticate via fingerprint or PIN. The authentication method you choose - fingerprint or PIN - will be associated with your Mobile Driver's License / State ID to ensure that only you are able to access and use it. Once finished, you should receive a push notification informing you of the status of your Mobile Driver's License or State ID request.

  • 24.How do I remove my Mobile Driver's License or State ID from Samsung Wallet?

    You can remove your Driver's License or State ID both from within the Samsung Wallet app and remotely:

    1. Open the Samsung Wallet App.
    2. From the "Quick access" tab, scroll to and click on your Mobile Driver's License or State ID. You will be prompted to verify your identity either via fingerprint or PIN.
    3. Click the 3 dots on the top right of the ID card details screen to open the overflow menu.
    4. Click on the "Delete" option.

    How to remove your Mobile Driver's License or State ID remotely:
    1. Log into the SmartThings Find site ("https://smartthingsfind.samsung.com/login") with your Samsung account information.
    2. Select your Mobile device.
    3. Click either "Erase data" or "Lock" to reset or temporarily lock your device, which will in turn disable your Mobile Driver's License or State ID.

  • 25.What happens to my Mobile Driver's License or State ID in Samsung Wallet if I get a new phone?

    A Mobile Driver's License or State ID cannot be transferred to another device. If you get a new Samsung Wallet-eligible phone, and attempt to add your Driver's License or State ID to Samsung Wallet on the new device with the same Samsung Account, you will be asked whether you want to delete your Mobile ID from your old phone. By clicking "Yes" your Mobile Driver's License or State ID will be deleted from your old device, and you will then be able to add it to your new one.

    If you are using a new Samsung Account on your new phone, you will be asked to delete your Mobile ID from your old phone manually. Please see the response to "How do I remove my Mobile Driver's License or State ID from Samsung Wallet?" for instructions on Mobile ID removal.

  • 26.How long does it take for my Mobile Driver's License or State ID to get approved?

    The process to request a Driver's License or State ID be added to Samsung Wallet is generally short. However, the approval process may take more time if the state issuing authority needs to conduct further reviews or requires additional information from you. We'll provide you with status updates via push notification from the Samsung Wallet app to help keep you updated.

    No. Samsung does not have access to when or where you use your Mobile Driver's License or State ID. We also have no access to the personal information you share when you present your Mobile Driver's License or State ID, as it is encrypted and stored only in your Mobile device.

  • 34.How will my information be protected?

    Your information is safely maintained by your DMV/MVD office or state issuing authority. When your Mobile Driver's License or State ID is approved and granted, an authenticated piece of digital information is transferred from the state issuing authority systems to your Samsung Mobile device. It is then stored in a secure and isolated location within your phone that is unreachable by any other application or service in your phone. Your explicit authorization via fingerprint or PIN is needed for enrollment, usage or deletion of any Mobile Driver's License or State ID on your device.

    Samsung does not have access to users’ personal Driver’s License or State ID information. We do not store your Mobile Driver's License or State ID on our servers. Certain data remains on your mobile device (front and back image of your physical ID, ID photo, Transaction history) but it is never sent to or stored on Samsung servers. Only you as the owner of the Mobile Driver's License or State ID, can provision, access, or delete the Mobile Driver's License or State ID from Samsung Wallet.

    Only you the user, and the requesting entity that you present your Mobile Driver's License or State ID to (either via NFC tap or QR code), will be able to see your ID information. Additionally, when you present your Mobile Driver's License or State ID, the receiving entity will only be able to see the specific information they requested. Your explicit authorization via fingerprint or PIN is needed to share your information whenever you present your ID.

    To view your digital card details:
    1.Open the Samsung Wallet App.

    Please note that the Driver's License or State ID in Wallet is a digital representation of your physical license/ID therefore all the information found on your physical card may not be visible on your digital ID.
