A base accident and illness policy can help cover diagnostics, procedures, medications, and hospitalizations related to new accidents (like broken bones) and illnesses, including hereditary conditions (like hip dysplasia), chronic conditions, infestations, and infections.

How does pet insurancework?

Lemonade Pet insurance gives you coverage when your pet experiences a new accident or illness, saving you money on unexpected vet bills. Plus, Lemonade Pet offers several preventative packages and add-ons, so you can customize your policy based on your pet’s needs.

Why should I get petinsurance?

Unforeseen vet bills can add up, which can leave you having to make the difficult decision between your pet’s health and your financial stability. Pet insurance gives you the security of knowing that if the unexpected happens to your pet, you won’t have to drain your savings.

How do I add anotherpet?

Each pet needs their own policy, but you’ll need to set them up one at a time. After purchasing a pet insurance policy for your first pet, just hit the + symbol on your Lemonade app’s home screen to get a new quote for your other dog or cat. Plus, you can unlock a 5% multi-pet discount.

What are waitingperiods?

Like all pet insurers, we have waiting periods before certain coverages kick in - 2 days for accidents, 14 days for illnesses, and 6 months for cruciate ligament events. But if you opted for our preventative package, you can use the benefits in that package the day after you purchased the policy!

Do you need my pet’s medicalrecords?

We want to get to know your pet so we can provide the best experience. After you purchase your insurance policy, we’ll ask for your pet’s medical records, which show vital information and help us understand if your pet has previous health issues, aka pre-existing conditions. This will also help speed up the process when reviewing your claim!

What are pre-existing conditions and are theycovered?

Anything your pet has shown signs of before the policy’s waiting periods are up would be considered a pre-existing condition. But we’ve got your back in case of accidents and any new illnesses, as part of our base coverage.

How do pet insurance claimswork?

Lemonade Pet works on a reimbursem*nt basis. You’ll pay the vet bill up front, and then you can immediately file a claim on the Lemonade app. Once it’s approved, we’ll issue a reimbursem*nt directly to your bank account, keeping in mind your deductible and co-insurance.

Can I go to anyvet?

You can go to any vet you like in the US. As long as they’re licensed to provide veterinary care in the state they operate in, it’s fair game.

Does Lemonade offer pet insurance nearme?

Lemonade’s pet insurance is currently available in 37 states, plus Washington, D.C.— check out where Lemonade Pet (and all our other coverages) are available.

Can I change my policylater?

You can submit a request to modify your coverage within the first 14 days of your policy, and again at your policy’s annual renewal. Once requested, we’ll let you know if the changes are approved by our underwriting team.

Can I cancel my policy at anytime?

Yes, you can cancel your policy at anytime through the Lemonade app. Keep in mind that our waiting periods will reset, and anything that occurred or was diagnosed during your first policy would be considered pre-existing conditions on a future policy.
