One Piece: 11 Powers Monkey D. Dragon Could Possess (2024)

Monkey D. Dragon is one of the most important characters in the One Piece world as he leads one of the greatest organizations in the entire story. Dragon is the leader of the infamous Revolutionary Army and is known as the "World's Worst Criminal," which puts into perspective how dangerous he truly is.

Although very little of Dragon has been seen in the story so far, the showings of his organization automatically make him look stronger and better. Additionally, there are quite a few powers that fans can see him possibly use in the future of One Piece.

Updated on August 30, 2023, by Rei Penber: Monkey D. Dragon is the Supreme Commander of the Revolutionary Army and one of the most influential figures in the world of One Piece. Although he has been on the sidelines for the vast majority of the story, now it's time for Dragon to enter the fray and make his presence known as the story is in its Final Saga. All the big names, such as Dragon, Shanks, and even the higher-ups of the World Government, are now going to be called into action. This means fans will have a chance to have a glimpse at the powers that he possesses. At the same time, this also means that the speculation around Monkey D. Dragon's powers grows even further. While this list already goes over a bunch of abilities that he might possess, there are a few more that are now thrown into the mix, given that Dragon is a character that could possess many powers. With that, this list has now been updated.

15 Flight

While not an individual ability on its own, flight is an extension of the ability that Dragon holds. Fans know for a fact that Dragon can fly. For one, he is known to have saved Sabo from the middle of the ocean in an instant before he could sink after he was blasted by a Celestial Dragon. Later on, on the same day, Dragon arrived on Wind Granma from the skies, as was evident from his silhouette. It was clear that he was flying, however, fans could not make out what form he had taken.

The fact that Dragon possesses these powers strongly hints that he either has a Zoan power, or a Logia power. Both would allow him to soar through the skies and save someone from the middle of the ocean. Regardless of what the source of the power is, Dragon can certainly fight on land, as well as in the sky. This is another reason why he is a versatile fighter and likely among the strongest in the One Piece world. Fans can only hope that the Final Saga will do justice to his character and showcase some of his most incredible fights when the time comes.

14 Mythical Zoan Human-Human Fruit, Model: Zeus

One Piece recently introduced the power of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, which is wielded by Monkey D. Luffy. The power of this fruit is quite ridiculous but more importantly, it gave fans the idea that Devil Fruits after deities can exist as Mythical Zoans. Zeus is a god that's worshipped in the One Piece world since one of Big Mom's homies is named after him.

As such, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zeus existing and for Dragon to be its user. Monkey D. Dragon's Devil Fruit would get to control all of the skies, including winds, rain, and lightning, among other overpowered abilities. Given that he's done some similar stuff in the series so far, he could very well possess this Devil Fruit.

13 Devil Fruit Awakening

Monkey D. Dragon having a Devil Fruit ability up his sleeve is certainly not out of question and in case he does, it is almost a given that his powers would be awakened as well. Depending on what type of Devil Fruit he's eaten, Dragon would gain different power.

If he has a Paramecia type of Devil Fruit, he'd gain the ability to affect his surroundings with his ability. A Mythical Zoan would give him the power of a new transformation and make him much stronger. Logia awakenings aren't known to the fans just yet, however, they're sure to be just as overpowered as the other two. Without a doubt, Monkey D. Dragon's Devil Fruit awakening would be incredible.

12 Wind Paramecia

Monkey D. Dragon having a Wind Paramecia Devil Fruit is also a possibility. The chances of his happening are certainly lower than the other Devil Fruit mentioned on the list, however, it is definitely something that Oda can incorporate into his story quite well.

A Wind Paramecia would work similar to a wind Logia, however, the only difference would be that Dragon wouldn't be able to turn into wind himself. In the One Piece anime, a similar Devil Fruit called the Kama Kama no Mi was introduced. In this case, Monkey D. Dragon's Devil Fruit would be similar to that, only much more powerful.

11 Wind Logia Fruit

One of the most theorized powers that Monkey D. Dragon is thought to possess is the power of the Wind Wind Fruit or an ability that is related to wind. While Oda hasn't revealed what powers Dragon wields, fans do know that he produced strong gusts of wind at Loguetown to help Luffy escape Smoker.

What's more, in Luffy's flashback, Dragon turned out to be the one who saved countless people from the fire in Grey Terminal by using his Wind powers to open up a path for them. It certainly wouldn't be a stretch to say that he has a Logia-type Devil Fruit related to wind.

10 Armament Haki

Armament Haki is a power that Dragon most certainly possesses. Although not everyone in the story has Armament Haki, it is impossible for someone of Dragon's stature to not be a great user of this ability.

Sadly, Dragon has never been seen making use of it since he has never been involved in any major fight in the story. Nonetheless, a lot of Dragon's subordinates use both Armament Haki so it's a given for him to be a user of this power as well.

9 Observation Haki

Observation Haki is an ability that grants a sixth sense ability to the user and allows them to sense things such as presence, emotions, and intent, and even gives them precognition.

Just like Armament Haki, Dragon has not made use of this ability in the story so far simply because he hasn't been involved in any major fights, however, that's not to say that he doesn't have Observation Haki. Out of all the Haki types, Observation Haki is the one that is most commonly found so it should also be one that Dragon has already mastered to a great degree.

8 Futuresight

It is a given for Dragon to have great control over the Color of Observation. After all, this type of Haki is being used by even weak characters in the series. For Dragon to have this power should not come as a surprise to any fan. However, taking it to the next level is where only a few powerful fighters excel. So far, fans have seen quite a few users of Observation Haki that can also see into the future. In Whole Cake Island, Katakuri showcased this power for the very first time. Luffy picked up this ability shortly after and, in Wano, Kaido also showcased the ability to see the future.

More recently, Shanks showed that he can see more than 10 seconds into the future, which is absolutely incredible. Dragon, being a fighter of incredible skill, should be able to use this ability as well. As for how great his mastery of this skill is, fans will have to wait and see. The ability to see the future is incredibly useful in combat and for Dragon to have the skill would ensure that he can fight against even the strongest out there.

7 Conqueror's Haki

Conqueror's Haki is a power that only one in a million people in the One Piece world are born with. It allows the user to impose their willpower on others, knocking the ones with weaker wills out in the process. Those who resist it are strong enough to fight the user of Conqueror's Haki.

Dragon is almost certainly going to be a user of Conqueror's Haki as well just like his son. In Marineford, Luffy's Conqueror's Haki was attributed to Monkey D. Dragon, meaning he is already implied to be its user despite not having used it so far. In the future, fans will certainly see him make use of this ability.

6 Ryuo

Ryuo is an incredible power that is very much similar to Armament Haki as it stems from the same power. In fact, Ryuo is just another word for Armament Haki in the Land of Wano, however, the application of Ryuo is very different from regular Armament Haki, which is why the samurai of Wano are considered such great users of this power.

Ryuo allows a person to make their Haki flow effortlessly from one particular point and emit it from a distance. Doing this makes the Haki more potent and, at the same time, increases its efficiency. Using this technique, Luffy was certain he could break through Kaido's scales. Dragon, although not confirmed to be a user, could have access to this power as it isn't uncommon in the outside world.

5 Ryusoken

Ryusoken is a martial arts style that Sabo specializes in, as seen during the Dressrosa arc of One Piece. When using this style, Sabo's hands become claw-shaped and are imbued with Armament Haki to increase their toughness. Sabo could even break steel with his claws with ease.

The most important aspect of Ryusoken is the ability to find the core and destroy things from the inside, which is what advanced Ryou does. Given that Ryusoken is a direct reference to Dragon and relies on making use of Ryou, it won't be a surprise if Dragon possesses this power as well.

4 Advanced Conqueror's Haki

Advanced Conqueror's Haki users are very rare in the One Piece world, but Dragon is certainly going to be one of them, without a doubt. According to Kaido, only the very strongest in the world can make use of it, which Dragon certainly is. Advanced Conqueror's Haki allows a person to coat their body in Conqueror's Haki to increase their offensive output.

Upon using, this power is manifested as black lightning and is one of the strongest offensive abilities in the story so far. Dragon, having great ambition, is certainly going to have Conqueror's Haki and for him, using Advanced Conqueror's Haki shouldn't be too hard.

3 Voice Of All Things

An ability fans know very little about, the Voice of All Things is a power that allows people to listen to the "voice" of everything around them. This includes beasts, other living things, and even inanimate objects such as Poneglyphs. When the Roger Pirates reached Skypiea, Roger was able to track down the location of the Golden Bell simply by following the voice of the Poneglyph.

This ability, although rare, was in possession of Roger, Kozuki Oden, and currently, even Luffy and Momonosuke can use it. For Dragon to have this power isn't something that should be too surprising.

2 Weather Manipulation God

The existence of Gods in the One Piece world is not a surprise to anyone anymore. After Luffy turned out to be Nika, the Sun God, fans should not be surprised to see other Devil Fruits offer similar powers. For instance, in the Skypiea arc, fans clearly saw the Shandians pray not just to the Sun God, but also to the God of Rain and the God of Forest. There are bound to be other Gods in the series and this also means that there could be potential godly Devil Fruits that exist.

This means that Dragon having a godly Devil Fruit is a very real possibility. Fans know Dragon to be a character capable of manipulating the weather. He can create strong gusts of wind, and rain, bring cumulonimbus, summon lightning, and do just about anything that one can imagine. These powers are not natural for a Devil Fruit user to showcase. However, if Dragon were to have a Devil Fruit pertaining to a godly entity that allows him to manipulate the weather in its entirety, then it certainly becomes possible. For now, fans can say nothing for sure, however, Dragon having the power of a weather manipulation god is a very big possibility.

1 Mythical Zoan Thunderbird

Another very intriguing possibility of a Devil Fruit power that Dragon might just possess is that of the Thunderbird. Believed to be a mythical bird-like creature, the Thunderbird is a giant creature that can also shapeshift into a human. The powers of the Thunderbird are also related to Weather Manipulation. With a clap of its wings, it can create lightning as well as thunder. It can also create storm clouds and cause erratic weather conditions.

Fans have already seen Dragon do something similar in Loguetown. So, it should not be out of the realm of possibilities for Dragon to have this Devil Fruit. Of course, it remains to be seen whether this power even exists in the One Piece world or not, however, the beauty of One Piece is that anything and everything can exist and if Oda wants to draw a Mythical Zoan Thunderbird fruit user, then he certainly can without any restrictions.
