Miquella, also known as Miquella the Unalloyed, is an archfae and the elder twin brother of Malenia. He and his sister were the firstborn children of Titania and Oberon.

Appearance[]

Miquella is unique in where he appears as a youthful child but is many centuries old. Unlike most of the fae he strangely does not seem to age as he remains in the same child-like state. Miquella is known for his hair which are said to shimmer more than gold and wave as though "wind passed through a plain of wheat". Few portions of his hair are tied in braids.

Miquella is depicted as having a somewhat feminine figure being often mistaken for a girl. He dons several gold rings around his fingers, a gold arm band on his forearm and bicep as well as an ankle bracelet, and his eyes are almost never shown but they are said to glow a dull yellow.

Overview[]

Miquella was the son of Titania and Oberon, the rulers of Avalon and the fae race as a whole, with his twin sister Malenia. As such he is the prince of Avalon and the heir to the throne of the fae kingdom. Even though Miquella was the weakest of the siblings, his greatest weapon was his cunning and intellect as Miquella was known to compel affection from others and is capable of crafting equipment that were far ahead of their time such as prosthetics and long-range weaponry.

Because of his cunning and abilities, Miquella was nominated as the best candidate to succeed the throne of Avalon, but Miquella had no interest in the throne as he was more concerned with finding a cure for Malenia's affliction of the Scarlet Rot or the Mold. It was then that he created unalloyed gold. He used this to craft needles that could ward away the meddling of external Demiurgic substances and which could subdue Malenia's rot.

Miquella's ability to craft unorthodox constructs from gold alone would have mortals dub him as the "Lord of Gold". In fact, it is revealed that Miquella is one of the contributing factors as to why fairies as a whole love to hoard and store gold in their deposits. It is believed that while fairies are attracted to riches the reason why they store them into underground burrows is so they could sink into the ground until they reach the realm of the fae where they would be transferred to Miquella himself. From Miquella, the fairies came to understand the workings of alchemy which they would pass down to curious humans. One example is Miquella teaching pixies how to transmute lead into silver by leaving it on an ant's nest during the new moon.
