Ever since I made the Ugly Christmas Sweater Ornament, I wanted to make a matching mini stocking.

The V-Stitch brings out all the festive spirit, and these red, green, and white stockings seem to come right from Elfland!

Crochet a few in different colors and use them as Christmas ornaments, keychain holders, or festive gift tags!

FAQs

Is it easier to knit or crochet a Christmas stocking? ›

With just those basic stitches you can make a whole variety of projects, like scarfs, hats, potholders, arigurumi (3D shapes) and obviously Christmas stockings. I find crochet to be easier than knitting, so if you want to make something with yarn I would highly recommend trying it!

How long does it take to crochet a Christmas stocking? ›

How long does it take to crochet a stocking? Not as long as you might think! It depends on how involved the design is but I was able to make mine in 3-4 evenings. If you want one that is super quick to make, chose one made with bulky or super bulky yarn.

How do you make mini felt stockings? ›

Instructions. For each stocking, trace the template onto felt twice with a pencil or tailor's chalk, and cut out. Pin the two pieces of felt together at the toe, heel, and instep. Cut a piece of ribbon just longer than the width of the stocking's opening; position it about 1/4 inch from the top, and pin in place.

How to make your own Christmas stocking? ›

Fold ½ yard of red, white, or patterned fabric in half, right sides together. Trace a stocking shape onto the fabric and cut out two shapes. With right sides together, sew around the stocking shape with a running stitch, leaving the top open. Turn the top edge inside and hem, then turn the stocking inside out.
