Can I download MetaTrader 4 on Mac? ›

With us, you can now download and install MT4 directly on your macOS. This means that, as our client, you can run MT4 on your Mac without the need for additional software like Boot Camp, Parallels Desktop or Wine. The signup and download process is the same as if you were using a Windows PC.

To use MetaTrader 4 on a PC, you will need to install MetaTrader 4 for Windows. You can download the installer from this page. Also, to trade, you will need to open an account with a broker, like FBS.

Since MT4 is an “.exe”-format application, the Mac device cannot run it without the additional help. That's why we needed to download a Wine-based program called PlayOnMac that allows users to run Windows apps on Mac.

Can I run an MT4 VPS on a Mac? Yes, you can run an MT4 VPS on a Mac. Whereas MetaTrader 4 is now available for download on macOS, you can still choose to operate your MT4 via our fast and dependable Virtual Private Server (VPS) offering.

Reason #1 – installation is being blocked by Firewall

The computer uses Firewall and antivirus which block the installation of MT4.

You will have to specify where you are trying to download Mt4, desktop or mobile. There are different versions of the trading platform that are compatible with a particular device. You will have to make sure that you are trying to download the right version of the platform.

While you can download MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and explore its features, you cannot trade the market with real money without registering with a broker. So, the quick answer is yes, you do need a broker for MT4.
