It’s strawberry season! And what better way to celebrate berry season than by crafting with to make you and your kiddos feel more connected with nature. Try painting the old fashioned way — make natural paint with berries!

How To Make Berry Natural Paint

Supplies:

  • strawberries
  • salt
  • vinegar
  • bowl
  • strainer
  • paintbrushes
  • paper

Directions:

Visit your local farmers market or U-Pick strawberry field for fresh strawberries. Mash the berries with a mortar and pestle or the back of a spoon. Strain the pulp out using a sieve or colander and pour into a small jar or bowl. Add a generous pinch of salt and a splash of vinegar to preserve the paint and mix well. Berries with a darker flesh will produce richer colors. Using a paintbrush (or a feather quill to really seal the deal), dip into your “paint” and go crazy!

You can use this natural paint on regular printer paper or craft paper! Let dry for 24 hours after your masterpiece is done.
