How to Make Money on Pinterest in 2022 & Beyond (2024)

Forget saving ideas for your next meal or an outfit you like, making on money Pinterest is easy and can be done even by a beginner.

Before you get excited and start seeing dollar signs, you’ll need to create a Pinterest Business account if you don’t have one already.

If you’re wondering why you can’t use a personal account, the answer is you can.

However, in order for you to get the most out of your Pinterest Marketing, you’ll need access to analytics.

Analytics are only found on Pinterest Business Accounts along with some other key benefits like your account ranking for your chosen keywords.

If you don’t want to create a new Pinterest Business account, switch to one from your settings in your personal account.

After switching to a Pinterest Business account, the next thing you’ll want to do is Search Engine Optimize it correctly.

Pinterest works like a Search Engine which means keywords are King. In fact for every keyword on Pinterest, 3 things have the probability of ranking:

  • The keyword itself.
  • A board that contains the keyword.
  • An account/profile that has the keyword.

I have a FREE Pinterest Search Engine Optimization E-book that walks you through everything you need to know to set up a high converting Pinterest Business account. Subscribe below and I’ll send it to you.

Now that you have all the resources you need to set up a high converting Pinterest Business account let’s move on to the next thing. Picking a niche.

A niche in its simplified form is a specific group or target market that you’d like to specialize in. If you love fashion or cars then this is what your Pinterest account would be about.

Here are some of the ways through which you can make money on Pinterest in 2022 and beyond.

How to Make Money on Pinterest in 2022 & Beyond (1)

1) Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a big industry that’s worth well over $12 billion.

If you don’t have products of your own to sell on Pinterest, affiliate marketing is one of the easiest ways to make money on Pinterest. This is because you only need to find affiliate products that are in line with what your account is about and promote them on Pinterest.

Every time someone clicks through your link and makes a purchase, you’ll be paid a commission and make money from the product(s).

The good thing about affiliate marketing is that there are no limits to how many products you can promote.

There are also no initial costs required to purchase or set anything up. This is different from a business where you’d have to make the products yourself and incur extra costs such as shipping.

To get started with affiliate marketing on Pinterest, find and join affiliate marketing programs in your niche(s) and post them on your account.

I did a whole article that details how you can successfully navigate affiliate marketing and make money on Pinterest.

>>Read everything you need to know about affiliate marketing and how to make money with affiliate marketing on Pinterest.<<

This is another good way to make easy money on Pinterest and one that’s rarely talked about. Promoting people’s products aka doing promos is common on platforms like Instagram.

Most people start theme pages on Instagram, grow them and then charge different brands & businesses a fee to advertise their products or services on their pages.

The same is the case for Pinterest. If you already have a big Pinterest account. You can look for Brands, Businesses or even people (mostly entrepreneurs or small business owners) who don’t have a big budget to spend on Ads and offer them promo spots.

If you have a multi niche Pinterest account, this could be really profitable for you.

Look for businesses in the beauty niche and offer them promo spots in your beauty board. The same goes for hair, fashion or whichever niche you have boards in.

I’ve used this method to make money on Pinterest with my other accounts so I’m not just writing this for the sake of writing it.

3) Creating graphics for people

There are a lot of bloggers who use Pinterest to promote their blog posts. Many of them use pin graphics created in PicMonkey, Canva or Adobe Spark. However, not every blogger enjoys creating pin graphics.

Creating pin graphics can be overwhelming and time consuming unless you have templates. Which is where you come in. If graphic design is something you enjoy, offer your services to these bloggers.

You can use platforms like Fiverr, Upwork or even Facebook groups about blogging to sell your services.

4) Selling digital products

This ties in with point 3. If you’re a graphic designer and you don’t want to trade your time for money, create downloadable & customizable templates in Canva that bloggers can use.

Get creative and have package deal offers that cater to food bloggers, lifestyle bloggers and bloggers who blog about blogging.

Digital products are great because there’s no limit to the number of times you can sell them. You also get to counter having to trade time for money.

Here’s a list of other digital products you can sell on Pinterest:

a) Pinterest Marketing E-books

A lot of people are starting to use Pinterest to market their products, businesses and blogs. With over 200 billion pins on the platform, figuring out the right strategies can be hard. This is where Pinterest Marketing E-books come in.

I use Pinterest to market my Pinterest E-books- Pin your Way to Conversions & Ultimate Guide to Pinterest Marketing for Boutique Owners.

b) Presets

This is another great digital product idea that not many people are doing, especially on this end of the pond.

There’s a huge demand for presets created for darker skin tones and Black people in general but very few seem to be available.

If you’re a photographer or someone who’s skilled in editing, create different presets, put them up for sale on platforms like Gumroad and start marketing them.

If you’re hesitant about venturing into the international market, think local market gaps.

There are so many influencers on Instagram who’d be more than happy to pay for high quality presets.

The good thing about a good preset is that it will market itself.

Person A sees their favorite influencer using a preset they like, they make an inquiry about it, and buy it. Person C sees person B using a preset they like and well, you get the point.

c) Digital art prints

If you’re an artist who draws, paints or does illustrations, use Pinterest to market your artwork and get sales for your digital prints.

The list of digital products you can create and sell on Pinterest is endless.

5) Selling physical products

I can dedicate a whole article to the amount of money that so many amazing brands are losing out on by not being on Pinterest. No really.

Wait, I actually did.

>>Is your business losing money by not being on Pinterest?<<

I have probably mentioned this a million times already but Pinterest is one of the few platforms which have an unmatched conversion power.

Create a Search Engine optimized Pinterest Business account, invest in a good Pinterest strategy & E-book and market your products.

The link back to every post system offers businesses a chance to shorten the funnel system and increase conversions.

6) Dropshipping

This is also another great one that I’ve personally dabbled in. In fact, I made $2000 in my first month drop shipping using Pinterest.

>>I talk more about how I made $2000 in my first month dropshipping using only Pinterest here.<<

To get started with making money through dropshipping on Pinterest:

  • Create an account for your store.
  • Search Engine optimize your account.
  • Do your keyword research.
  • Invest in a good Pinterest strategy and start marketing your products.

There are so many other ways through which anyone can make money on Pinterest. Some common ones include blogging and offering like I do.

7) Pinterest creator program & partnerships

Pinterest launched a creator fund similar to Tiktok’s and Instagram reels where creators can make money by creating on the platform/apply for funding.

You can also get sponsored work from Pinterest as a creator. How this works is Pinterest will approach you with a sponsored post/pin opportunity. You will be asked to create idea and or static pins about certain topics in exchange for monetary compensation.

So if you’re an influencer who’s not on Pinterest yet, create a Pinterest account as soon as possible.

If you’ve been looking for some ways to turn your Pinterest account into a money making machine, I hope these tips will help.
