Early Game[]

  • Easy Money - open up Bruno's shop by buying chubs from him and selling them back until Tuna is available. Then, buy as much tuna from him and flour from Lina as you can afford, and craft them into fish fingers. Sell the fish sticks to Sophia for a profit of 65 coins per dish. If you do this when all three shops are open (Tues-Wed), you can grow your money exponentially. (Fish Fingers Calculator). The game sets NO LIMIT to how many fish fingers you can sell Sophia at a time, so if you run back and forth starting first thing in the morning, increasing how much tuna and flour until you can buy few hundred of each, you can make about 60-70,000 gold in single day. (Since the new update Sept.2022, you can now quickly add things by 10, or sell ALL of them with one click, under these conditions I made 500K gold in 2 days -- tues/wed)
  • The most economical energy choice is coffee. Most food items you can cook can be sold for 50 to 100 gold while coffee gives you almost the same level of energy as the highest energy foods, but only costs 40 gold. Regents used to make energy potions are probably better saved for other purposes.
  • Don't forget that alcohol increases magical energy... carry some with you just in case you run out while at home or in the gloaming, and then drink some coffee
  • Gather as many things as you can and don’t sell anything that you depend on the game to respawn (like moonflowers, mushrooms, shells, mandrake, nuts, etc). Having a good supply of things is important to move forward in the game. That said, DO sell just enough to the various stores to open them up fully (note the # of stars in the upper right corner of the store) -- they won't sell you everything they have available otherwise (both in quantity and type)
    • Keep two of everything you find/ create - Will help in the long run with quests and longer missions.
    • Items to hold onto when starting off:
      • Nuts - they are not sold in stores
      • Soil - you will need it soil to build structures and expand your farm.
      • Maple syrup comes from the red trees, you'll find the right tools to get to it if you look

General[]

  • A list of all items with their sell prices is available here
(very much a work in progress! Follow the "Main Page" link under each category to contribute)
  • Game Speed - You can change the rate at which time passes in the game whenever you like, as many times as you like.
Relaxed10min lasts 20s (0.5hr/min)
Normal10min lasts 6s (1hr 40min/min)
Challenging10min lasts 5s (2hrs/min)

Shopping[]

  • All business hours are listed here
  • Check shops to see what else can be unlocked. You’ll find that some shops have more inventory that can be unlocked the more you sell them things. When you sell an item to a shop owner, the shop's progress bar will fill up indicating that another shop rank can be achieved. Top right corner of the shop window there are gold stars showing you how many more levels are available to unlock.
  • For instance if you don't open Lina's shop up fully in the first season you won't be able to buy the seeds necessary to grow the spring vegetables you'll need to cook some of the dishes -- and she does NOT sell all the fresh vegetables required.
  • If Kai has something random in his shop and you can afford it, buy it. This is especially true for pineapple and avocado, which show up only rarely. If you see something you've never seen him sell before it will be required in later quests and it could be a few days between getting the quest and him having it in stock, so buy it when you see it. At the outset of the game the best way to open up Kai's shop is to sell him paper. If you don't open his shop up by selling stuff to him, you can go the full year and not mange to buy as many pineapples or olives as you'll need in the game
  • Be careful about selling your items to Shelby, unless it is to open his full inventory to you, as every item he buys is very valuable for crafting. If you have the means, buy everything he has in stock EVERY time you talk to him -- you WILL need it for spells!
  • Later in the game you'll meet another character also selling items required for spells and or food that you can't get any other way... buy anything she's selling till you have at least 10 of each or more
  • Since Sept 2022 update, you can now buy or sell things either 1 at a time, 10 at a time, or everything you have (or can afford) with 1 click

Farming[]

  • Leave planted flowers in place once they bloom; do not pick them unless request for a quest. The more flowers in bloom at once, the faster your bees will produce honey and beeswax. This is the only source of these products, which are especially important during the Summer!
  • Make sure you always have 7+ days worth of animal feed on hand as the ranch is closed from Thursday - Saturday.
  • Make sure you harvest all your crops before changing the season, as crops that go out of season will disappear. Miracle Grow Potion, Ultra Miracle Grow Potion, and Speed Time Spell are especially helpful for this.
  • Pay attention to what fresh vegetables Lina sells and don't waste time growing those unless growing them is part of a quest. Focus on growing the veggies you can't buy in her store.
  • Since Sept 2022 update, you can now, once you've built the extended plots section MOVE planters or mulch bins from one area to the other

Fishing[]

  • When there are multiple fish in one spot and the one you want doesn't bite, just wait a few seconds. The first fish will leave and the next fish will go for the bait.
  • Unlock the Animal Shapeshifting Spell; catching fish as Cleocatra is very quick and doesn’t use any energy, but you get no choice as to which fish she catches. When shape shifted she can also catch crickets.
  • Remember to stroke your pet cat daily for free chubs, crickets and other ingredients
  • Mulching dirt gets you free worms
  • It gets confusing but in the fishing charts the round big fish are referred to as Salmon, the long big fish as Tuna

Mining[]

  • Upgrade your axe to the gold axe and Gold Pickaxe as soon as you are able to as it's an investment that gives back. You can buy the needed 12 gold bars from Francis to upgrade your equipment early in the game (best to do it on a Wed or Friday as he and the blacksmith are both open). The investment is worth it. -- above the 12 gold bars you will also need 3K to pay the blacksmith for her work, see the fishsticks trick for how to make enough money in the first week to do that
  • Stock up on food and revitalizing potions (or better yet, buy a lot of coffee from Sophia) before going into the mines, especially before buying the Gold Pickaxe. Once you leave the mine, your mining progress on every level is reset.
  • The chests are unlocked with the Lockpick Incantation, which becomes available during the coven questline. One will be found on levels 4 & 9 and then two are from level 15 and onwards.

Magic[]

  • Whenever you have a spell with stars next to the ingredient, check to see what alternative ingredients can be used.
  • Remember to get at least one chicken and pet it daily for feathers which you'll need later in the game for magical spells and won't be able to get any other way.
  • Remember to buy at least one cow and then slaughter once fully grown it in order to get lard, if you want to complete the cook every food achievements. Lard is mandatory for at one dish and can not be bought, for every other dish that needs oil, olive oil is a substitute (you buy the olives and press them). Lard is only given to you as a byproduct after slaughtering cows -- you can't buy it.
  • Alcoholic drinks replenish your magic meter, but cost a bit of energy to consume.
    • If you drink an alcoholic drink while at zero energy, it doesn’t cause you to collapse, meaning you can refill your magic at no energy cost.
    • If you carry coffee, follow alcohol with coffee and you're fine

Relationships[]

  • Speak to characters every day for a small relationship boost (to speak to everyone, set your game speed to "Relaxed").
  • Giving people gifts always increases friendship slightly, but giving someone their favorite gift provides a huge boost at once! (But only once, then it becomes slight but more than other gifts). If you don't have their favorite thing, coffee makes a great alternative gift, it is cheap and gives about just a bit less of a boost as their favorite food the 2nd time.
  • Once the heart is full, your relationship level will not increase until you trigger an event or cut scene. Explore the map and visit all stores regularly to trigger cutscenes -- or check the character pages in this Wiki which describe the days and times when the cutscene can be accessed.
    • While your relationship level will not continue to increase from interactions once maxed out - you should keep talking to everyone as many have hints and information that will help you later, and sometimes they're just plain funny.
  • Romance:
    • Dating: You cannot date more than one character at a time.
    • All other dateable characters will reach a maximum level of "Intimate Friend" if you're already engaged or married -- unless they asked you to dinner earlier in the game and you rejected them, in which case they are limited to being best friends
    • Marriage: You can now marry, divorce, and then remarry someone else. You cannot however re-date someone after you break up with them or divorce, nor are they interested if you went to dinner with them and rejected them before marrying someone else. If you want to play it where you marry , divorce, and then remarry in a game (rinse repeat), be careful to not allow your relationship to progress to them asking you out to dinner at Sophia's. As long as that doesn't happen you can actually work your way through ALL of them in a single game.
    • To break up with a character, don't talk to them for at least a week. You can buy from their shop but cannot talk to them. This can be done while dating or after marriage.
    • There are achievements for each possible marriage. Each is slightly different in how the romance progresses (via dialogue) and it's worth paying attention to the differences in dialogues, most of the comments at the weddings from townsfolk are similarly congratulatory, but the comments for two of the spouses are humorous.
    • After you're outed as a witch all of your spouse's will ask you to meet them somewhere at the end of the day "to talk." PAY ATTENTION to the location, the location is different for each ... also this does NOT show up as a to-do task and if you forget to go you'll miss the interaction which can be important. (Changes since Sept 2022 update, some of these romantic discussion requests which used to show up in the mail and then disappear -- to be easily forgotten -- are now being registered in the section for the tasks from the town hall bulletin )
    • Changes since Sept 2022 update, Before this update you could NOT get married during the first spring season (proposals didn't happen before summer) ... you now can. That said, even if Grandma is still spritely she NOT attend the wedding... your spouse will move into your house per normal and its kind of fun watching them and Hazel maneuvering over who gets to use the only chair. Also, before the update you got married in your normal clothes but now there's proper wedding attire for the you and your spouse. ALSO you can now get married after the game is officially over (and it's a much nicer service)
