What can you do with Gyroids in Animal Crossing?

advertisem*nt

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you'll be able to display Gyroids as musical furniture items in your home. You can put them in various rooms to go with your style and aesthetic just for the look, or you can synchronize their little sounds to the K.K. Slider music playing in your house.

You'll also be able to hang Gyroids on the wall, which includes a small shelf automatically to display them on. You can also give them to your villagers as gifts to decorate their homes. Additionally, you can place Gyroids around your island, and other villagers will stand next to them and enjoy their tunes!

How did Gyroids appear in previous Animal Crossing games?

In previous versions of Animal Crossing, Gyroids were dug up from the ground. They were also more common after it rained, but did not need to be grown and harvested. In most versions, you simply placed the Gyroids in your house like musical furniture, but in Animal Crossing: City Folk, Brewster the Pigeon stored Gyroids for you at The Roost cafe.

How to Use Gyroid Fragments in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

When you first find Brewster to unlock the cafe or take your first boat tour from Kapp'n, you'll likely come across a Gyroid Fragment on the ground. Just like with fossils, or anything else buried, look for an X on the ground to mark the spot! Dig it up to find the fragment. All of the islands from Kapp'n Boat Tours should contain at least one Gyroid Fragment.

Think of a Gryoid Fragment like a Gyroid seed! You need to plant to the Gyroid Fragment to make it grow into a fully-formed Gyroid— fortunately, this is quite simple to do!

To plant your Gyroid Fragment, go to your island and find any open spot on the ground. Dig a hole with your shovel; then, open your item menu and choose the option to bury your Gyroid Fragment.

Once you've planted the Gyroid Fragment, you only need to water it once! After watering with your watering can (or rain) you'll then see a little puff of steam float out of the hole in the ground. Return the next day and dig it up and you'll find a fully-formed Gyroid! If you do not water a Gyroid Fragment, it won't grow.

How to Find More Gyroids in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

You can get Gyroids in a few ways in ACNH. The best way to get more Gyroid Fragments is to take the Boat Tours with Kapp'n. Search the island for the "X" spot and dig there. This should yield you a new Gyroid Fragment every time you visit an island on a boat tour!

You can also find Gyroids on your island! Dig up all the "X" marks on your island and there's a good chance you'll find yourself a fully grown Gyroid among the fossils. The day after it rains, you're very likely to find a fully-grown Gyroid buried somewhere on your island. If you're really lucky, you may find two!

If you're like to quickly find lots of Gyroids, AND if you're okay with time-traveling (see our guide on everything you need to know about time traveling in ACNH for more information), you could use rainy days to spawn fully-grown Gyroids on your island. If it's raining on your island, can then skip to the next day and you''ll find a Gyroid. Go back to the previous day it was raining, and keep repeating the process for as long as you want.

No new Gyoids will spawn from rain if you already have five Gyroids buried on your island! So make sure to dig up old Gyroids to make sure you're always able to get new ones!

How to Customize Gyroids in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

advertisem*nt

To customize a Gyroid, make sure you have it in your pockets when you approach any DIY workbench. You'll need to purchase customization kits first, which can be found at Nook's Cranny. Make sure you have at least one customization kit for each Gyroid you want to customize.

At the workbench, select the customize option and the Gyroid you'd like to customize, then select the color you like best! The customization only changes a Gyroid's color pattern. It will not change its sound the change it to a different type.

You can also customize Gyroids by using Cyrus on Harv's Island Shopping Plaza. Cyrus charges 1,000 bells for every Gyroid customization. You can learn more about Cyrus and the other shops in our Harv's Island Shopping Plaza guide.

ACNH Gyroid List - How to Check Gyroid Collection

The 2.0 Update added a total of 36 Gyroids into the game. There are 35 Gyroids that can be grown using Gyroid Fragments or found buried in the ground. We've alphabetically listed all 35 of those in the next section of this page.

The game also features a Gyroid that can only be obtained by a special method. We've labeled that Gyroid as a spoiler. You can still learn about it by pressing the spoiler tab at the end of the list.

Here's an easy way of check which Gyroids you've collected. This will show you any Gyroids you've gotten even if you've sold them off or given them away.

Use the Nook Shopping and on the welcome screen, select the wallpaper, flooring and more button. Scroll over to the Gryoids tab next to the music and make sure you have the Not for Sale option on. You'll see all the types and variations of Gyroids you've ever collected listed alphabetically. You can then compare your list to ours below.
