My credit card debt, massive school loans, car payments and astronomical mortgate rate used to keep me up all night! It’s difficult to get out of debt, even for a couple working two full time jobs. There must be something else you can do to get out of debt faster! Well, friend, I have discovered a solution that is helping me get of debt quickly that I’d like to share with you. It’s through side hustling! I have paid down over $74k worth of debt with the power of side hustling.
My Side Hustles to Help Me Get Out of Debt Faster
The profitable and easy side hustle that has helped me dig myself out of the never ending debt hole is dropshipping with Shopify. Getting started is so easy and I have created a helpful guide to walk you through each step.
I used to ask myself, “How can we pay off all this debt?” Even though my husband and I both worked full time jobs, we found that most of our income was going towards crazy ass monthly payments!
My Debt Story and Journey with Side Hustling
We were buried in so much debt that we couldn’t even afford a simple date night, much less a family vacation. I would see friends on Facebook promoting their endless trips to Disneyland and even Disney Cruises so would glow green with envy. My own son, Bryan, loves Mickey but we couldn’t afford to take him due to the mountainous debt.
Something had to give!
I Got Paid with Online Surveys
To make some extra money, I would do (and still do) surveys with Survey Junkie. Taking the surveys was excellent for passing the time while waiting for doctor appointments, waiting in line and while watching TV. I even made almost $1,500 thus far with Survey Junkie.
Still, it wasn’t enough money. Sure, it helped me gain some extra income but I needed so much more. The debt hated me to the moon and back, and quite frankly, I had had enough of this misery! What on Earth could I do? I promise, this article has a silver lining and isn’t all about me bitching and moaning about my debt.
Dropshipping To The Rescue!
An ad came up on my YouTube one day while I was watching Nikki from Nikki Tutorials do her eyebrows. She never does her eyebrows during her videos so I was pissed off. Why the hell did a damn ad have to come up while I was watching a legendary YouTube moment?
Instead of click “next” on the ad, it caught my attention because the dude in the video had a shiny white Lamborgini he was lounging on.
“How pretentious!” I said aloud. I didn’t like those who shoved their wealth in people’s faces. What nerve. Still, I kept watching this ad and this guy, named Kevin David, proceeded to talk about something called “dropshipping” and how he makes a butt load of money from it.
Learning About Dropshipping From A Master
What is dropshipping? I had no idea, but had to learn more about this, so cheerfully clicked the ad. It led to a landing page that referenced Kevin’s You Tube channel so I went there.
Kevin David said in the first video I watched that he used to have a 9 to 5 job but left it to pursue selling online. In fact, he claims to make millions of dollars by dropshipping in his eCommerce business.
I watched maybe 5 of his videos and got hooked on this idea of dropshippingand I wouldn’t have to buy any products up front. This is something I had to try!
Kevin David was selling a course where one could learn more about his methods so I proceeded to purchase it for $997 on a nearly maxed out Visa. This was a huge amount of money but something told me that I had to try this. There was a money back guarantee so if I didn’t see results then I could get my money back.
Dropshipping looked so easy from what Kevin said and demonstrated in his course. I was able to learn how to start my own Shopify store and began dropshipping that weekend.
Kevin David had videos in his course on advertising for traffic too. I was very impressed at his teaching methods and was never bored. Not to mention, he is really cute!
My First Dropshipping Win
That very weekened, I had made my first sale from placing an ad on Facebook for $20 a day for two days. Kevin had taught me how to scale the ad if it did well. Then, I made five more sales the next day!
I found a free app called Oberlo that imported and fulfilled all of my orders quickly with the click of a button.
Getting Out of Debt Faster With Dropshipping
All in all, I made more profit the following week – half of the price of Kevin David’s course. I was hooked on dropshipping and feeling better than I had in years. Was this the answer on how to get out of debt faster?
A shiny new Coach purse beckoned me to buy it with the money, but I said “No way, baby! I’m paying off this debt!” Instead of buying the flashy purse, I opened up the Discover app on my phone and paid money towards my $4,300 in debt that I had on the card. Go me!
As I got more profit from dropshipping, I paid off more of the Discover card debt until I had paid it all off!
Debt Pay Off Techniques
- Pay off high interest credit cards first
- Pay off cars
- Pay off school loans, they usually have lower interest
- Start paying off the mortage
Pay off high interest credit cards
It is smarter to pay off credit cards first when you are tackling debt. It’s because they are usually much higher in interest than other debt and this makes credit cards the worst debt of all. Just whip out a credit card if you have no money left on your debit. My husband once said that he wished someone would steal my credit card because then they’d probably spend less than I do!
Paying off the Car
My car payment was next on the list so after a fruitful Black Friday, I was able to earn enough to make that monster go away. Luckily the car was purchased at Carmax so the pay off wasn’t as much as I had thought. I highly recommend everyone to consider Carmax when you are buying a car. You save so much money and their service is outstanding.
Pay off school loans due to lower interest
The school loans that my husband and I had were up next. It took about a year to get those bad boys paid off. What is the deal with school loans anyways? Some people have more than $200k in debt! That’s almost the cost of my family’s home.
A job that you can get right out of school usually pays mediocre so a loan that high will eat up all of your money fast. School loans cripple new graduates and limit their lifestyle considerably.
I would be debt free if it wasn’t for the beastly mortgage.
Start paying off the mortage
With the mortgage debt left, I am side hustling like never before and have even opened services on this blog to help. I am trying so hard to get out of debt faster.
My goal is to get the mortgage paid off by next year through my Shopify stores, services and this blog’s affiliate revenue. It is really easy to start a blog and I explain the process in detail here.
A Solid Plan For Being Debt Free
By getting all the other debt paid off and having a solid plan in place, I feel much freer like a butterfly. This is why Mom Beach’s logo is of a butterfly that has wings shaped like an M and B.

It is like swimming in an ocean during a hurricane when you have a ton of debt. You can’t keep your head above water! Would you use the extra money towards retirement, a fun family vacation that will make you the envy of every other mom on Facebook, or something more dear to your heart?
This is only my second month of blogging and I have already made some money with affiliates. It is possible to make money with blogging, but it takes awhile to earn a liveable wage.
Dropshipping with Shopify, on the other hand, earns you money faster.
Take Action
It is time to take action and begin progress on paying off your debt if you have some. I suspect you might or you would not be reading so far into this article. The minimum monthly payments are not going to cut it!
Break down your debt into bite-sized pieces. What is the smallest debt that you owe? Take care of that first because it will make you feel better instantly and encouraged. If you pay off the largest debt first like a mortgage, then that would take years and you’d get discouraged. Gradually pay off the next smallest debt with the money set aside from paying off the previous debt.
Eventually, a debt snowball will form that you can roll over to pay off bigger and bigger debt that you owe.
If You Believe In Yourself, Anything Is Possible
Whether or not you decide to start a side hustle is up to you. Side hustles like a blog or Shopify store are a productive tool to increase your income in order to pay down debt. There are countless other ways to start your own side hustle if blogging or dropshipping doesn’t appeal to you.
You have to get creative and find out what you love doing that you can make into a side hustle. Through believing in yourself and putting in the work, you can make your dreams come true. It is up to you to transform your life. It is all in your hands. Let’s get started!
