While Genshin Impact’s standard banner is not always advised, it is still the most accessible source for both 5-star weapons and characters — there are five 5-star characters available on the standard banner. Of these, Diluc is a fiery DPS with easy-to-use skills. He's among the best DPS characters in the game, with many fans throughout the player base.
As a character from Mondstadt, Diluc is one of the easier characters to level up and ascend. Nonetheless, many players still have trouble finding Diluc’s preferred materials around the world of Genshin Impact. Here are a few tips for gathering them.
Leveling Materials
Like every other character in Genshin Impact, Diluc requires a certain amount of Mora and EXP to level up, which increase when he passes certain milestones. These amounts and milestones are:

Gemstones: Agnidus Agate
As a Pyro user, Diluc will need a certain amount of Agnidus Agate with each ascension. These can be obtained via many methods, the main one being by defeating bosses. These bosses can drop it:
- Pyro Regisvine
- Pyro Hypostasis
- Primo Geovishap*
- Algorithm of Semi-Intransient Matrix of Overseer Network
- Iniquitous Baptist
- Emperor of Fire and Iron
- Andrius (The Wolf of the North Challenge)
- Azhdaha (Beneath the Dragon Queller)*
- La Signora (Narukami Island: Tenshukaku)
*Azhdaha and the Primo Geovishap can only drop Agnidus Agate when they're aligned with Pyro.

Enemy Drop: Recruit’s Insignia
Diluc will require the player to collect Recruit’s Insignias in order to ascend each level. These Insigniaa can be collected by defeating any number of Fatui Recruits found in the world. One location where Fatui Skirmishers spawn in great numbers is the north shore of Dragonspine.

Boss Drop: Everflame Seed
For many Pyro users around Mondstadt and Liyue, collecting drops from the Pyro Regisvine will be needed at a certain ascension level. Diluc will need Everflame Seed after defeating the boss, which can be found near Tianqiu Valley in Liyue.
Local Specialty: Small Lamp Grass
In addition to items collected by defeating bosses, characters in Genshin Impact will also need a local specialty found from their respective regions. Diluc will need a quantity of small lamp grass with each ascension.

These thin lightbulb-like pieces of grass can be found abundantly in the Whispering Woods and Wolvendom, so players will want to journey to these places when building Diluc’s ascensions. Small lamp grass will glow a bright blue during the night when it is easiest for Genshin Impact players to collect these plants.
Diluc Talent Materials
While ascensions are the best general way to increase a character’s strength, leveling up their talents is also an important part of the building process. For Diluc, players will need the following items to level up his talents:

Talent Books: Resistance
Diluc is a strong-minded vigilante in Mondstadt (which has caused many fans to nickname him "Batman"), even to the extent of going against the city’s ruling organization. Naturally, players will need Books of Resistance to level up Diluc’s talents. These can be obtained from the Forsaken Rift domain on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday.
Trounce Materials
After level 6, players will also need to collect Trounce Materials in order to ascend Diluc. For these materials, players will need to complete the Stormterror’s Lair domain and collect Dvalin’s Plume.
