Background

[Genshin Impact] Best Aloy Build: Artifacts, Weapons & Team Guide (2)

Aloy is a 5-star Cryo character that uses a bow. She is the first crossover character in Genshin Impact and is the main character of Horizon Zero Dawn. She is a free-to-obtain character.

Aloy grew up in a tribe that often shunned and made her an outcast. She was taught how to hunt and survive by her foster dad. Aloy eventually tries to learn the origin of her past as she journeys throughout her land in search of answers. She was teleported to the world ofGenshin Impactafter stepping through a portal inside a ruin.

Aloy Skill Talents

Aloy can gain Coil stacks to convert her normal attack into Cryo DMG, while also buffing her own attack and decreasing the enemies’ ATK with the effect of her elemental skill. Aloy’s burst does AoE Cryo DMG and has a low energy cost.

Aloy’s normal attack, Rapid Fire, fires off 4 attacks in a standard attack animation. Her first shot will hit 2x, while her fourth shot will deal the most damage. Aloy’s charged attack infused her attack with Cryo DMG.

[Genshin Impact] Best Aloy Build: Artifacts, Weapons & Team Guide (4)

Aloy’s elemental skill, Frozen Winds, allows her to throw a Freeze Bomb that’ll create an explosion in its thrown location and deal Cryo DMG. After exploding, the Freeze Bomb will split into Chillwater Bomblets and will explode when enemies come into contact with it or after a short time has passed. When a Freeze bomb or Chillwater Bomblets damages an enemy, their ATK will decrease for 6 seconds and Aloy will receive 1 stack of Coil. Each stack of Coil can be gained every .1 second and will buff Aloy’s ATK for each Coil stack she has. Gaining Coil stacks can be tricky to obtain due to the delay and requiring the enemy to come into contact with it. Aloy’s elemental skill also comes with a long 20 second cool down. Aloy is capable of obtaining Coil stacks even if she is off the field.

Note: Aloy’s Chillwater Bomblets can be grouped or picked up with skills like Kazuha’s elemental skill or Venti’s elemental burst.

Once Aloy reaches 4 stacks of Coil, she will consume all of them and enter the Rushing Ice state. In this state, her normal attack gets a damage buff and is converted into Cryo DMG. Aloy will remain in this state for 10 seconds.

[Genshin Impact] Best Aloy Build: Artifacts, Weapons & Team Guide (5)

Aloy’s elemental burst, Prophecies of Dawn, throws a Power Cell at the enemy, which will explode to deal AoE Cryo DMG. It has a low energy cost of 40 and a cooldown of 12 seconds, allowing it to be easily charged up and used again.

In co-op, Aloy can buff the ATK of nearby teammates and herself, while decreasing the enemies’ attack with her elemental skill.

AloyPassive Talents

[Genshin Impact] Best Aloy Build: Artifacts, Weapons & Team Guide (6)

Aloy’s passive talent allows her to sneak up on certain wild animals without scaring them off. Her ascension talents give Aloy and her team a buff, depending on the usage of her Coil effect.

Aloy’s passive talent, Easy Does It, is a great exploratory talent that allows the party to sneak up on animals like chicken, ducks, and boars, when Aloy is in the party. This prevents them from running or flying away so you can easily collect their meat. However, getting too close or killing a nearby animal will still cause them to run away.

Her first ascension talent, Combat Override, boosts Aloy’s ATK and nearby party members when she receives the Coil effect from her elemental skill. This talent allows her to support her team while also boosting her own damage. However, it does require her Coil effect to activate which can be tricky as it relies on the enemy triggering her ice bomb themselves.

Aloy’s fourth ascension talent. Strong Strike, raises her Cryo DMG every second she is in the Rushing Ice state and will boost her overall damage. This state lasts for 10 seconds. This talent will also still work even if Aloy is off the field.

Aloy gets a boost to her Cryo DMG based on her ascension rank.

Easy Does It
Unlocked Automatically

When Aloy is in the party, animals who produce Fowl, Raw Meat, or Chilled Meat will not be startled when party members approach them.

Combat Override
Unlocked at Ascension 1

When Aloy receives the Coil effect from Frozen Wilds, her ATK is increased by 16%, while nearby party members’ ATK is increased by 8%. This effect lasts 10s.

Strong Strike
Unlocked at Ascension 4

When Aloy is in the Rushing Ice state conferred by Frozen Wilds, herCryoDMG Bonus increases by 3.5% every 1s. A maximumCryoDMG Bonus increase of 35% can be gained in this way.

DPS

[Genshin Impact] Best Aloy Build: Artifacts, Weapons & Team Guide (8)

Aloy will gain increased ATK based on the number of Coil stacks she has from her elemental skill. However, obtaining these stacks is tricky as enemies will need to be damaged by her bombs for them to activate. It also has a delay when triggered and Aloy can only trigger her elemental skill every 20 seconds. However, when Aloy is able to collect 4 Coil stacks, she can enter the Rushing Ice state to deal Cryo DMG with her normal attack. Due to these restrictions, Aloy will work best as a sub-DPS where she will use her elemental skill then switch out. She will then switch back in when her Rushing Ice state triggers to deal damage. She can be used as a Main DPS, but will be less effective as she can not maintain the Rushing Ice state due to the long cooldown of her elemental skill. You will want to mainly focus on leveling up Aloy’s normal attack and elemental skill.

For her teammates, Aloy will want to make use of a Freeze team to fully benefit from the effects of the Blizzard Strayer set. Aloy and Kaeya will activate the Cryo team resonance to boost Crit Rate against enemies affected by Cryo or Frozen. Kaeya can be replaced with another Cryo character like Ayaka. Xingqiu will apply Hydro to the enemies and deal passive Hydro DMG with his burst. Kazuha will increase the elemental damage of any elemental he Swirls with, and can easily spread Hydro or Cryo to enemies with his elemental burst. He can also gather up Aloy’s bomb with his elemental skill to make it easier to hit enemies.

Aloy’s recommended weapon is the 5-star Thundering Pulse. This weapon increases Crit DMG and ATK. By obtaining Thunder Emblem stacks, Aloy will gain a boost to her normal attack damage. The 5-star Amos’ Bow is another great option and increases ATK and normal attack damage. Since Aloy will already have an increased Crit Rate boost with this build, she will not need any more additional Crit Rate in her weapons.

Aloy’s 4-star weapon choice is the Rust as it raises ATK and normal attack damage. You can also use the craftable Prototype Crescent. This weapon does require you to hit an enemy’s weak point before you can trigger the Movespeed and ATK buff. The Hamayumi is another 4-star craftable weapon that raises the user’s attack. It will increase Aloy’s normal and charged attack damage, and will raise it further the effects if Aloy reaches 100% energy on her burst.

If you have access to the 4-star Predator, this weapon is a great option for Aloy since it was designed to go with her playstyle. This weapon is currently only available for Playstation players. It boosts ATK and increases Aloy’s normal attack damage when she deals Cryo DMG to enemies.

For the early game, use the 3-star Sharpshooter’s Oath to raise Aloy’s Crit DMG and damage against enemies hit in their weak point. The Messenger can also be used for a similar effect.

Aloy’s artifact set is the 4-piece Blizzard Strayer. This set raises her Cryo DMG and Crit Rate against enemies affected by Cryo and Frozen. This set allows Aloy to gain a 40% Crit Rate against enemies that are Frozen, allowing her to focus on Crit DMG in her builds. The Blizzard Strayer set can only be used in a freeze team to fully maximize its effects. You can also use a 2-piece Blizzard Strayer and Shimenawa’s Reminiscence/Gladiator’s Finale to give Aloy a permanent boost to her Cryo DMG and Crit Rate.

For the early game, use a 4-piece Martial Artist to increase Aloy’s normal attack and charged attack damage. You can also use the 4-piece Gambler to boost the power of her elemental skill and reset it when it damages an enemy.

Aloy’s main artifact stats:

  • Sands: ATK%
  • Goblet: Cryo DMG%
  • Circlet: Crit DMG

Focus on Crit DMG, ATK%, and Energy Recharge on her sub-stats. Elemental Mastery won’t help in a Freeze team and Crit Rate is not necessary with the Cryo team resonance and Blizzard Strayer set already in play.

Burst

[Genshin Impact] Best Aloy Build: Artifacts, Weapons & Team Guide (9)

This build for Aloy focuses on her elemental burst due to its low energy cost and ability to deal AoE Cryo DMG to the enemy. She can also use it to trigger the Melt reaction with Pyro characters to deal extra damage. You will want to maintain her Coil stacks from her elemental skill to gain the ATK buff to increase Aloy’s damage. Using her normal attack is optional. For this build, Aloy will only enter the field to use her elemental burst or skill and switch to another character to deal damage.

For Aloy’s teammates, using two Pyro characters will increase the team’s overall ATK. Bennett is a great support character to heal and raise the attack of the team with his elemental burst. Diluc can be replaced with another Pyro DPS like Hu Tao, but he is overall great to deal Pyro damage when his burst is triggered. Sucrose will increase the elemental reaction damage of the team by sharing her elemental mastery.

Aloy can make sure of any 5-star weapon for this build like the Skyward Harp or Thundering Pulse. Her recommended weapon for this build is the 5-star Polar Star due to its passive increase in Crit Rate. This weapon increase her elemental burst and skill damage. It will also increase her ATK when she obtains 1 stack of Ashen Nightstar by using her normal attack, charged attack, elemental skill, and burst. The Skyward Harp can also be used since it increases Crit Rate and Crit DMG. Its passive attack damage will need Aloy to land hits with her normal attacks to trigger.

For her 4-star weapons, Aloy’s top choice is the Stringless because it will boost the damage of her elemental skill and burst. The elemental mastery boost in its passive will also help increase the damage of her Melt reaction. The Alley Hunter can also be used to increase her ATK and further boost Aloy’s ATK and Crit DMG every 4 seconds she is on the field. This buff will remain until Aloy takes damage and can stack up to 5 times. The Blackcliff Warbow from the shop can also be used to increase Aloy’s Crit DMG and buff her attack when she defeats an enemy.

The Sacrificial Bow is another viable option for Aloy and raises her Energy Recharge and resets the cooldown of her elemental skill when it damages the enemy.

Aloy’s recommended artifact set is a 2-piece Noblesse Oblige and Blizzard Strayer to boost the power of her burst and Cryo DMG. You can also use a 4-piece Emblem of Severed Fate to increase her Energy Recharge and Burst DMG based on a portion of her Energy Recharge stat.

The main stats on Aloy’s artifacts should be:

  • Sands: ATK%/EnergyRecharge
  • Goblet: Cryo DMG%
  • Circlet: Crit Rate/Crit DMG

Focus on Crit DMG, Crit Rate, Energy Recharge, and ATK% on her sub-stats. Elemental Mastery can also be great to boost the power of Aloy’s reaction damage.
