Genshin Impact Aloy Build Guide (2024)

Genshin Impact has released an armada of characters for players to roll for and the new playable characters keep on coming. Soon we’re to see the Raiden Shogun Baal and Kujou Sara join the Genshin team; a month ago, we saw Kamisato Ayaka, Yoimiya, and Sayu get tossed into the mix.

Now, for the first time ever, Genshin Impact is crossing over with another series - Horizon Zero Dawn - and bringing Aloy as a playable 5-star character. This miHoYo-PlayStation collaboration is most likely the product of the recently added PS4 and PS5 crossplay functionality.

Aloy is a Cryo Vision wielder who uses a bow in a similar manner to characters like Ganyu and Diona. Since Aloy will eventually be free to everyone, a lot of players (especially newcomers) will want to take advantage of this new 5-star hero. Thanks to Honey Impact, Aloy’s information is available. Read ahead for TechRaptor’s official guide on Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn.

Genshin Impact Alloy Guide - Team Role

Despite being a unique character to Genshin Impact, Alloy’s kit is relatively simple. With an Elemental Skill and Burst built purely on dealing DMG, there isn’t too much nuance to Aloy. With that being said, Cryo is one of the more useful elements players can wield in Genshin Impact, so Aloy’s lackluster kit doesn’t absolutely detriment her.

Aloy’s best role is that of a Sub-DPS; She doesn’t fit well into being an auto-attacker, but she deals enough DMG and provides enough support to fit into a sub role.

Genshin Impact Aloy Build Guide (1)

Genshin Impact Aloy Guide - Talents

Aloy’s Normal Attack - Rapid Fire

  • Normal Attack - Perform up to 4 consecutive shots with a bow.
  • Charged Attack - Perform a more precise Aimed Shot with increased DMG. Charge the shot to deal Cryo DMG.
  • Plunging Attack - Fires off a shower of arrows in mid-air before falling and striking the ground, dealing AoE DMG upon impact.

Aloy’s Elemental Skill - Frozen Wilds

  • In a similar manner to Diona, Aloy throws a Cryo “Freeze Bomb,” exploding on impact and dealing Cryo DMG.
  • Upon explosion, clusters of Chillwater Bomblets spread across the point of detonation, dealing additional Cryo DMG.
  • Each time an enemy is touched by the Chillwater Bomblets or the Freeze Bomb, Aloy receives a stack of Coil, which increases her Normal Attack DMG. Stack four Coils and Aloy will enter a Rushing Ice state.
  • In Rushing Ice, Aloy further increases Normal Attack DMG and does additional Cryo DMG with her Normal Attacks.

Aloy’s Elemental Burst - Prophecies of Dawn

  • Aloy throws a Cryo-filled Power Cell at enemies and then strikes it with an arrow, dealing AoE Cryo DMG.

Genshin Impact Aloy Guide - Artifact Sets

Blizzard Strayer

The Blizzard Strayer set is commonly used on Cryo characters.

  • The two-piece bonus for this set grants a 15% boost to Cryo DMG.
  • The four-piece bonus raises your Critical Rate by 20%. Frozen enemies give characters an additional 20%, raising the Critical Rate to 40%.

Due to Aloy’s constant application of Cryo DMG, it comes as no surprise that the Artifact set made for Cryo characters fits perfectly on her. This Artifact set can be found in the Peak of Vindagnyr Domain at Dragonspine’s Peak.

Noblesse Oblige

A set commonly used on Support and Sub-DPS characters.

  • The two-piece bonus for this set grants a 20% boost to Elemental Burst DMG.
  • The four-piece bonus for this set grants a 20% ATK boost bonus to all teammates after the user uses their Elemental Burst.

As a Sub-DPS, Aloy is able to take full advantage of the Noblesse Oblige set-piece bonuses. Pairing a two-piece Blizzard Strayer with a two-piece Noblesse Oblige sets Aloy up to do an immense amount of Cryo DMG when she activates her Elemental Burst, Prophecies of Dawn.

Shimenawa’s Reminiscence

A new set exclusive to the Inazuma region.

  • The two-piece bonus for this set grants an 18% boost in ATK.
  • The four-piece bonus for this set drains 15 Energy from a character when they cast an Elemental Skill but boosts Normal Attack DMG by 50%.

Shimenawa’s Reminiscence is a self-serving set that doesn’t fit too well on a Sub-DPS, but if you’re looking to maximize Aloy’s own Normal Attack DMG, it works perfectly. The Elemental Skill boosts stack onto Alloy’s Frozen Wild bonus, making her do a ton of DMG.

Genshin Impact Aloy Guide - Weapons

Predator Bow

A 4-star bow included in the Horizon Zero Dawn crossover available to players connected to the PlayStation Network.

  • Dealing Cryo DMG increases Normal and Charged ATK by 10 for six seconds. This stacks up to two times.
  • Secondary stat increases ATK% by 41.3%.
  • Additionally, if Aloy equips the Predator Bow, she gains an ATK increase by 66.

The Predator Bow was made for Aloy and grants a unique boost to only Aloy. It’s safe to say this weapon fits perfectly on her, especially with the boosts to Normal Attacks through Cryo DMG.

The Stringless

A 4-star bow available to wish for in banners.

  • Increases Elemental Skill and Burst DMG by 24%.
  • Secondary stat increases Elemental Mastery by 36

The Stringless granting a 24% boost to Elemental Skills and Burst DMG makes it a solid choice for nearly all bow users, but Aloy especially can take advantage of this due to her Sub-DPS role.

Sacrificial Bow

A 4-star bow that can be wished for.

  • Secondary stat increases Energy Recharge by a maximum of 30.6%.
  • After dealing damage to an opponent with an Elemental Skill, the skill has an 80% chance to end its own cooldown

The Sacrificial weapon series is a great choice for any character that relies on their Elemental Skill being activated. Aloy can take full advantage of using her Elemental Skill twice in a row, which will allow her to stack more Coils.

Genshin Impact Aloy Guide - Team Composition

Since Aloy isn’t very niche, she fits well onto almost any team that could benefit from her Cryo DMG. Ideally, you want to put Aloy into a team that can cause Elemental Reactions with her. Despite this, Aloy’s kit is largely self-serving, making her an awkward slot-in that could easily be replaced by characters like Diona (who provides a shield and healing).

Electro and Hydro are important to have so Aloy can inflict the Superconduct and Freeze Elemental Reactions, so look for characters with those elements. Anemo will also be good to Swirl all of these elements.

A team for Aloy could look like this:

  • Razor (Main-DPS, Electro, Physical DMG)
  • Aloy (Sub-DPS, Cryo)
  • Mona (Utility, Hydro)
  • Sayu (Anemo, Healing)

Razor is the Main-DPS of the team, so his auto-attacks and Elemental Bursts will be doing most of the team’s damage. Aloy and Razor create Superconduct, which will make enemies more susceptible to Physical DMG. Mona and Aloy can create Freeze, which can be shattered by Razor’s claymore. Sayu’s purpose is to Swirl everyone else’s elements as well as keep everyone alive through healing.

Aloy is a special character that many are excited to see come to Genshin Impact. Being the first cross-over character, it’s a little disappointing that Alloy’s kit is relatively simple, but her usefulness is far from nonexistent. Regardless, this build will help you maximize Aloy’s damage in Genshin Impact.
