Fruit - Animal Crossing: New Horizons Guide - IGN (2024)

Like Animal Crossing games before it, New Horizons will feature a variety of fruit to be found, planted, sold, and even eaten. This ACNH guide has information on all known fruit and their uses, plus where to find them.

Fruit can be used in a variety of ways in Animal Crossing, and comes in different types - though only one type of fruit will grow natively on your island when you arrive. The different types of fruit are:

  • Apples
  • Cherries
  • Coconuts
  • Peaches
  • Pears
  • Oranges

A tree that is designated as a fruit tree will bear three fruit from its branches. If shaken, the fruit will fall to the ground where it can be collected.

Players can either sell the fruit to Timmy and Tommy, use them as crafting materials for special DIY items, eat them to gain stamina to temporarily break rocks or transplant whole trees, or trade them with friends. Make sure to avoid eating fruit and then chopping a tree or stone unless you want to destroy them!

Nook Miles for Fruit

You'll get extra Nook Miles and rewards for every fruit type you plant, including 100 additional miles for every type, and unique passport titles:

  • Cherries (Twins, Other Half)
  • Oranges (Total, Freshman)
  • Pears (Unpearable, Pear)
  • Peaches (Plucky, Star)
  • Apples (-)
  • Coconuts (Tropically Grown, Coconut)

Since every island only starts with one fruit, getting more types of fruit to plant on your island can be difficult. It can be very lucrative to have multiple types of fruit growing on your island, as they can be continually harvested for money or trading:

  • Native fruit sells for 100 Bells each
  • Non-native fruit sells for 500 Bells each
  • Coconuts sell for 250 Bells each

Coconuts are the easiest fruit to obtain outside your native fruit, and because of this they are worth a lower price. You can find them any time you use a Nook Miles Ticket to visit a Mystery Island, and shake the palm trees to get up to two Coconuts, and return to plant them along your beach.

Other fruit is harder to come by, as Mystery Islands don't seem to ever bear fruit different from your own. The best way to get new fruit is to keep checking your mailbox for letters from Mom, as she is likely to send you non-native fruit every so often.

The only other real way to get non-native fruit is to trade with other players. Either enlist a friend and use the Airport to travel to them, or throw your own Airport gates wide to let any local switch users come visit and bring their native fruit with them. See How to Play Multiplayer for info on how to play with friends in ACNH.
